The music is very good, the code too, but sh's a little boring. Perhaps more effect will be best.

great demo
original ideas & effects, fine gfx, *amazing* orchestral music
the main part is tad boring :(

Perfect (for software) looking demo which really impressed me a lot! Run it in a window and resize it to your desktop size if it's higher than 800x600 looks squared but rocks! Nice one!
well known effects used for different purposes. a huge bunch of work with a stunning result, though nothing really new is shown i like it very much.

Bravo ! It's wonderful !
Perhaps animations are not really thought, but great great music and good design !

well done !!!
a pixar style demo.
the first time i watch it, it's on a big screen and i thinked it's a imagina video in mpg, but it's Real Time ! too cool !-)
Argh, damned, the demo could have been SO cool...

If it weren't so fucking SLOW. No, i don't speak of the engine, it's fast enough for what it does, but the storyline/camera/music lets you fall asleep after just about two minutes or so. Don't demo makers ever watch movies? I mean, this could be compared to a scene where the mainn actor, let's say a secret agent, smokes a cigarette between two of his missions... and does nothing else. Ok, the cigarettes in this demo are quite short, but as long as you don't speed up the whole thing to about 2x speed or something, i'll give it the "another boring 3d demo, yet a technically impressive one" predicate.

After I had met the group Exceed from Heaven7 I downloaded this demo too.
And Exceed sattisfied me for the second time again! I beleive in Exceed very much!

I liked the first part very much! Fadezoom from pic to pic and then a beautifull looking Atlantis effect (As I use to call this effect from the game that first had used this logic..)

Second part has good speed if you have a Pentium2, but it's very good for what it does. (If it only supported also 320*200 it would be faster...)

I could say much more here,.. but I have to stop right now..

Spot proves that good code, good graphics and good music don't always make a good demo.

It's just too darn long, not to mention that it's about as much fun as watching some 5-year-olds playing guage.
added on the 2001-07-18 11:51:21 by noid noid
really nice demo from exceed, great software 3d engine, the first part rulez, the second part could be a bit more fast paced, or a little shorter, as it is it is a bit boring, my little brother loved it though :)
the music is also very good, I can't wait to see the next exceed prod

the intro of the demo is really nice, good graphics and all. but the story itself is extremly boring, and i hate that music.

Nice demo, from a great group. The software engine is really good, and the idea with the spotlight's from pixar's film is really clever.
rulez added on the 2001-09-05 11:22:12 by zafos zafos
The intro is the singlemost amazing party of any demo I've seen up to date. It puts the TBL and 3Dmark 2001 zoomer to shame on all counts.

Te rest is boring, and has visible limitations: some textures are plain ugly, some objects seem to be restrained to about 12 polys. Shame. The engine is impressive, and is being stretched to previously impossible rates.

Reccomended download, but don't come crying if you get bored the second time =)

This is really amazing demo when wathced first time, but on second time and after that it gets boring.
added on the 2001-10-02 11:27:02 by teel teel
I like that demo, the same I liked toys some time ago, but the second time u see it starts getting boring.
PPL talking about effects... where are they ?? A skydome, fake shadows and (maybe) metaballs are called effects ?
Nice ideas and implementation, but I call this a scene player, anyway a good work.
added on the 2001-10-02 11:48:52 by rIO rIO
The start of this demo is very nice. Love that logo.

And nice things going on in that house :)

Ofcourse this demo gets boring after seeing it many times, but what a fuckin great first impression.

Now I want to see Exceed getting into hardware mode :)
rulez added on the 2001-10-06 17:42:57 by Wain Wain
The demo was awesome at the partyplace, and it's still a nice scene player (the best after Fulcrum, imho). I hope Exceed get better after the jump from the balcony!

Somehow a rather typical 3d-show but I somehow ended up liking it. It even runs "decently" on my lame-ass excuse of a computer...
rulez added on the 2001-11-09 00:09:01 by uncle-x uncle-x
The paragon of all 3d demos. Everything is flawlessly executed.

It's as close to perfection as I have seen in a PC demo so far; from a technical and visual standpoint at least.

However, it loses its magic second time round; grows boring third time round; and by the fourth run, I didn't wait for it to finish.
rulez added on the 2001-11-27 21:57:21 by Wade^Hjb Wade^Hjb
The beginning is really great, but everything else is a bit, well, long-winded and lackluster. Animation of objects and stuff is really wonderful, as is the software-rendering. What I found odd was the telling an almost non-existant story.
there was a story? hmm ok...
nice though

Kewl, although an accelerated option would have been nice for those who have an old computer

is well made with good colors, i was gobsmacked when i saw it first time but i dont like the music and the story is simply not very interresting (actually far from) this got played 2 times on my rig, and then left the HD. But its still getting a thumbs up, because it really is worth a sight, and well....if you think of it as no wotry line, and just a demo that shift between parts on a desktop instead of various 2d/3d background...well then its pretty cool...good work people

Very nice code & graphics. I love the snoring objects at the beginning, but nearly fell asleep later in the demo due to its duration, but i enjoyed the neat 3D modeling/rendering. Music wasn't that brilliant, but was fitting the style.

A code-gem anyway. Congrats Exceed !

Kinda Tim Burton atmosphere, notably at the beginning. Too bad the objects awakening is actually not vigorous enough, and thus disappointing. Great code (software rendering!!) and very nice modeling, anyway.

It is indeed slow, but this slow pace combined with the sweet colors and dreamy music make this demo a unique experience, magical like a nicely told fairytale.

wow soundtrack:

great and about time to see someone use a (good sounding) orchestral palette. End result is an intruiging, colourful soundtrack with some wonderful tambres.

However I must agree with what some people have said: sometimes it feels the music simply isn't apt to the visual. Why? Two reasons. Fristly, well there simply is a lot of music. Be careful not to over-write and hence dampen the impact. Think final scene of "the godfather"; transendal scene highlighted by but 'toy piano music'. could have easily been lush orchestras. but sometimes the best fitting music is what works against onscreen...

A demo that does this well is here

And secondly - just watch your "dead hits" (exact points of music/visual sync). There were a lot of them in here, and admittedly a few at the start were just that little bit too early. Remember - a second later, is always better.

Still - again great use of tambre (espec. voice), and some good texture changes make very interesting and good sounding sountrack. (ie. result of hard work). Valiant. well done.

Rest of demo is awesome: great to see SW rendering (awesome code) and nicely designed models. Very memorable product and certainly a keeper - thankyou!
