I like the cubes part with the slow refresh... BUT PLEASE. One is enough pain to watch.
Oh, and...

link is dead :(
i got bored of this kind of releases long time ago...
EPSON!
What nosfe said.
Will fix link soon, until then watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atklmnxwTNU
maybe it was technicaly not a masterpiece, but otherwise, what more should you do with such an old machine ? i mean, it was a demo, a bit different from others. I liked it ! Good idea, good job ! thanks for that !
a pig for the platform
Journey Through Farterspace: The Reckoning
excellent!
i appreciate the efford for such stonage platforms, but it was neither funny nor super excellent.
the platform sucks, the demo sucks
I think it's basic intepreter is much too slow to make a decent demo with. Next time, try assembler :)
It was fun watching, and thumbs up for the platform!
vectrex, they should've done something that's actually intresting to watch. which i havent seen on this or any similar platforms yet.
I have to agree with the people who say that this is not terribly interesting. Then again, it is made for a crap platform so could it ever be? But next time, please make it shorter.. :)
fuck you
For a Epson HX-20 demo this is great!
Thumbs up for the music.
Funny little demo on a very unordinary platform. So thumb is up :)

bah
Boring! At least replace the firmware with your own so you have decent speed...
It's really hard to care about a platform that can't even show a decent 2d starfield effect. :/
for platform
oink
Funny!
this epson stuff is starting to get old
Piggie for platform.
Challenge !
Piggie, looks like there is a base hardware limit for decent demos which the platform is limbo-dancing below? Is a Vic 20 emulator possible on the platform ;-)
Looks like basic coding... And no original idea! So down the flush!
The Epson demo from Breakpoint was already tedious enough; this wasn't any more interesting. IMHO the platform just isn't worthy, feel free to prove me wrong in another production though :)
Boredom generated by too little performance.
Pros: The platform (but why oh why in BASIC ?)
Cons: Most of the visuals look like typed in from a BASIC tutorial.
And, i mean, 614KHz is almost 2/3 the speed of a C64.

Maybe there's no assembler nor any hardware docs to bang the hardware. But it still sucks, therefore the inverted thumb. :)
Use a crossassembler and poke around in the memory to document it and make a nice demo!!

Ohh i forgot *THUMBS UP* !! but next time take a Casio LCD Watch as your Demo Plattform :-)

Code the demo in assembler next time!
sorry, this is tedious. one demo of this kind was enough.
Hi All. Thanks for your comments, I want to answer some of them:
- I really didn't know that there was already a HX-20 demo at Breakpoint 2009. The HX-20 entry is missing in pouet, I found it now at youtube and in the Breakpoint results.
- Yes, the code is written in Basic. Sure, the machine would be much faster (and the demo more interesting) in Assembler. But I took the computer 3 days before the party out of my cellar (maybe this really was to late), so there was not enough time to "learn" assembler or to do something better on this old machine. I'm not sure, but I think it also needs extra software to code it in Assembler - just poking around in the memory takes a lot of time...
Because the Basic interpreter is vey slow, I had to precalculate the rotating cube. So, the long loading time is no fake or joke and not to bore somebody. Without precalculation, the cube would roate with 1 frame/3 seconds ;-) Ok, with precalc it's also not really "faster"...
Also every demo and platform is a matter of taste (sure, you all know this), so one person likes it, another one does not.
Anyway, thanks and greetingz.

bah
1) code asm on firmware 2) dont clear the screen between frames 3) it runs 10-100x faster
for the effort :D

Still it's strange to see 2 demos for the same platform in the same year.
Nice !
cool
no
Looking forward to an ASM version of this demo for the very same platform this year. :)
