Easily the best demo in the compo. It might just be a bunch of disconnected parts, but I enjoyed looking at each of them. Very nice music as well.

Heyhey! Nice one!

Perfect odlskool mood. Couldn't change the screen resolution in config, though. Anyway - good demo.

Live Footage

I enjoyed it very much, apart from the cheesy kaleidoscope bits :)
rulez added on the 2009-07-03 01:38:43 by m0d m0d
enjoyed watching that :) even tho some parts are ugly and others quite nice it was presented in good spirit and the soundtrack helped to carry it through, also i hope that wasnt Neuropol font you used at the end, you maek Trace mad !! :D

I liked the beginning and some other nice effects too, but still overall I thought it was rather medicore. Soundtrack wasn't bad but still bland.

Ok, I just watched the live video. It seems that ati cards, or at least my 4850 doesn't display it correctly. Was a lot better on the video.

Quite enjoyable demo but some parts are a bit ugly. :)

nice :) i'm so into the vectorfield <3 (and it even runs on my 6800 \o/)

an outright celebration of demo ugliness

but it's still cool

Noby: Can you tell me which parts were different on ATI? I haven't been able to test it on ATI, my last non-Nvidia card was a 9800 which has only shaders 2.0 and if I understand it correctly, GLSL shaders with jumps and loops need 3.0 shaders.

Can other people confirm or deny if it displays similar on ATI as on the live footage, and if not on which card model? The timing and some transitions are changed in the final version, but the effects and order are the same. Thanks in advance.

the wobbly shaderball stayed black for me too (ati x2400)

additionally, if your engine has the tendency to shove half the window off the screen, you might want to leave the option open for the user to move it back (WM_CAPTION)

the demo itself just brought back bad bad memories.

i loved that vector array!
rulez added on the 2009-07-03 12:36:23 by RRROAR RRROAR
The vector array was nice, if cliche and too static.

The rest was oldschool and silly, but not in a good way.

inconsistent but enjoyable

Seven: At least the ball and the kaleidoskope were wrong, looked like both had no shaders on them.
added on the 2009-07-03 13:33:37 by noby noby
the transitions in the beginning were nice, but by bob the colors and design are very *barf*
Since 2 of the 3 kaleidoskope parts reuse the shaders of the bal, there's probably some ATI-limit I exceed with my shader. I won't have time this weekend, but next week I might be able to try and fix it, at least if there's someone with an ATI-card willing to try test-versions.

Gargaj: I'll see if I can fix that with SDL, I almost always run them fullscreen so windowed hasn't gotten much attention. Thanks for the remark.

Well.... Overall feeling is... I have no feelings about this demo at all. It is not bad but it is not entertaining in any way.

Why the hell you used shaders for such a simple effects? Just because you know how to use them?
added on the 2009-07-03 17:01:00 by stan_1901 stan_1901
Hrm, yes, to learn to use shaders. You got to start somewhere, and if I can support a local party with my attempts, that's a plus. The demo is called Odds And Ends for a reason :)

some neat ideas! really like the twisting kaleidoscope parts!

Not my kind of prod. Disjointed and sort of unfinished looking. Some bits were nice, like the kaleidoscopes and parts of the music, but as a whole it didn't win me over.

very simple/traditional/my-first-demo design and effects, but very cute, and it's great to see both seven and elblanco back! the plasma ball was very cool but didn't work on my radeon, like others have experienced.

Some really nice parts, unpolished perhaps but overall really neat :)

Some nice ideas, but it all looks rather flat and primitive.
added on the 2009-07-07 22:14:24 by Blueberry Blueberry
I fixed a really stupid shader bug, can someone with an ATI card download it again and tell if it looks similar as in the live footage posted by m0d?
added on the 2009-07-07 23:53:19 by Seven Seven
okayish prod, I liked the light-source-directional-vector part...otherwise: coder design..music was OK.

Oh and I have no problems with my ATI Radeon 4870 (512 MB) with the latest Catalyst drivers.

nothing groundbraking but with the soundtrack a weak thumb up...

Minus the bunny part it would have been a good demo. Now it's only a piggy from me. Oink.
