candela strikes back!
rulez added on the 2009-05-26 17:28:39 by decipher
yay!
Cool!
crashes about a minute in on my 9800gtx :(
Yay, pretty.
short but decent :)
Well done, but not as good as I had hoped
nice candela demo, cheesy music at time but it can be overlooked
seconding the kkapture request since i think i have a few glitches
seconding the kkapture request since i think i have a few glitches
crashes right when the robot is doing the disco move on top of its pillar.
short but pretty cool
Fucking amazing to see them making a return! A .kkapture would be MUCH appreciated!
Nice, feels just like Fair Play to the Queen Pt.2, be cool to see something different from these guys, but then again why break a winning formula :)
Really good. Great graphics, music, design, effects and it even has a SR reference. One of my favorite prods from this year.
the shading was flickery, the framerate jittered, and overall it looks like a very forced sequel to Fair Play - sure, some nice stuff, but... it ended when it started to become fun. :(
Oh yeah I forgot, way too short :(
seems like an unfinished sequel to fair play with some ideas taken from ironman :P needs way more coolness of its predecessor though.
It glitches at least on my graphics card and I didn't like the DOF, but it's still a nice release.
At first try there was no sound and I had to kill the process to exit. I was luckier the second time around, but there are still a lot of graphical glitches.
Still a fair demo, a bit random though.

Fucking rocks again! The return of the ROBO was a nice idea aswell as his new adventures :)
This is a REAL demo! <hint, hint>
This is a REAL demo! <hint, hint>
Cool this demo worked like a charm on my 4 years old ati machine :-)
p.s. good to see the robot back from fairplay to the queen. You guys should make a *big* demo and win bp or something :)
Crashes here halfway as well.
crash in the middle : too bad the graphics are really cool
=)
Nice little diddy :)
i wish it was longer...
Same problem as Hyde, so kkapture plz
very nice one! a keepar. I would wish it was longer aswell.
cool and colourful robot ride
Same problem as Hyde and Smash, so fix plz
Really great! Runs fine here on nvidia 9800GTS with vista x64.
so far so nice.
waiting for the fixed final version.
waiting for the fixed final version.
nice
cool but what gargaj said
Hardware rquirements please.
:) nice
Massive zfighting in some parts on ati... Very nice otherwise but seems a bit unpolished.
Ran fantastic on my quadcore with 8600GTS, but felt a bit too short and unfinished for a full fledged sequel (heck, Fair Play was even too short imho :))
Still catchy as fuck and the music is (as always) brilliant!

great.
Fucking cool.
Cool
2009 et tal but 50MB for a demo I still think it's too much, when you can have a 720p video for the same size.
\m/
Where is the demo?
just about ok, saved by good music.
I had problems with the bad texturing, no AA and copy paste idea from the first candel demo with the robot.

Saw this at birdie, thumbs up to you! keep em coming! just hope you diddnt kill Jeff :)
This made my day! Beautiful!
It was alright, but looked a bit mid-90s to me and had really poor textures.
Short but fucking sweet. Good music, sync, no z-fighting or any other crap on ati here. Like silk.
Gorgeous!
What Astronaut said. It runs quite smooth on my old busted machine and most scenes are bugged, but it's still pure awesomeness... even if it's 50MB... and someone upload a decent kkap!

smiled all the way through. Lovely demo. Too short. Effects a bit weak but hard to criticise something this nice. Liked the music too.
super \o/
abit slow...but really nice.
:)
Obviously looks really really good and deserved to win at Birdie, but it felt rushed. You guys can do better ;)
Sorry, meant to thumb up too ;)
cool but 100 mb (unziped) is a bit too much ...
Nice one
video anyone?
I think it glitches badly at my crappy computer, but at least it didn't crash \o/
So I shouldn't judge it until I see it like it's supposed to be :)

Not bad, but geez big. Love the Second Reality reference. ;)
Very nice!

Nice one... with a lot of wasted potential due to lack of polishing
nice. bit short but nice
I really like the visuals .. specially the intro and transition to "demo"... but I can't help to feel that _everything_ in this demo is just animated thru a editor rather than SOME effects being coded... and it's the size that does that.
But I still like it and to top it off it works in wine :-)

For all those with the crash, I found a capture on YouTube:

Lovely!
It feels like a "not that good" sequel to fair play .. But still a very good demo imho!
what TS said
What Happy-H said.
Works for me.
Nice :)

The music is above then perfect!
Whole demo is so cool as well.
Thanks a lot, Candela!

100% pure candela
Crashes here. Quad Core E9550 / Geforce GS 960
Oh yeah!
Not quite my cup of tea. Pressed Escape.
the candela bot strikes again!
and please stop defaulting to 640x480. hardly anyone has a geforce 3 anymore.

Well, a fitting prequel to FPTTQ. I watched both demos in a row and the transition is smooth.
what somebody else said.
Fun, varied, interesting, nice music. Thumb up.
nice, but not my type
Nice 64k!
Oh wait ... its 46MB ... wth?

Nice :)
i love it!
Bronko Bronkowitch says it's too short.
Bruno Brunosen is not sure about that.
Anyway. MORE CONTENT PLEASE! merci.

oink oink
very stylish and daft-punk-ish prequel to Fair Play, but i liked it better than Fair Play. The transitions are awesome!
Awesome direction, physics effects, cube screen of oldschool effects with great radial blur rays, great fun, ended up soon. But sooo cool, just like the first one from Candela.
I liked! thanks a lot!
Nice flow; great job!
Nice. Hexagons instead of cubes are groundbreaking.
Short but sweet.
Very nice
вуццуцеце
Replay (or pre-play) to the queen... nice.
Awesome! Teetow's music is nice as always and it's also nice to see the robot again. :D The lines in the first scene are a bit thin (looks bad without FSAA), but that's just a minor drawback. The rest of this demo is really fresh and nice. :)
First of all, I hate how large some demos are getting. I didn't feel like this was even close to 46.7 megs of content.
The content, however, was very good. Great transitions, fitting music, and I'm a sucker for hexagons ;) . Next time make more resolutions for such a solid prod!!

this is funny! nice sketch
pleasured my senses for design, not ultimately, but it did
<3 candela
The music's rather cheesy, and there's a certain overall lack of appeal. Not all bad though. The first part looks fresh, and that scene in the screenshot was cool.
horrible.
Sweet 3d action, Funky Tune, What's to say except...
Thumbs up, Soldier!
Thumbs up, Soldier!
More!
nice
ok
The Crazy Germans still love you..
Music is killing, in some parts it reminded me of Harold Faltermyers Top Gun Anthem.. i dont know why, but i like the mood. Demo is too short, but that is nothing new ;)
I think this is a good demo
JAAAAH!!!
cool ^.^
God I love this thing. Seen it 4 times tonight alone. I could try to explain why but 1) you know why and 2) I'd just fuck up the words.
And if anyone knows why it won't kkapture and how to fix, it would be much appreciated!
A shame it is so short, because the mood and attention to details (and proper sync) is very good.
Another Perfect Candela Demo - Awesome music but so short.. Really sweet one - Thats the kind of demos i really love.. Awesome work - really look forward for a very damn long demo from you.. :D
Nice demo, but really a bitch to kkapture ;)
[For those why try and fail: Don't kkapture launcher.exe, that won't work. Instead, run code.dll directly with parameters like "-w 1280 -h 720 -win", or "-f" instead of "-win" if you like, and hope it doesn't hang (it did here a few times). Also, some of the generated .avi files had corrupt sound, so you might need to mux the sound from the original data file, too ...]

Good one...
Good point about capturing code.dll, but sadly I'm still not able to get it :-/
trixter: here are my steps to success, in a little more detail:
- kkapture code.dll with parameters like "-w 1280 -h 720 -f" (the parameters are *required*)
- make sure that your screen can actually display the selected resolution, otherwise you get black bars. I know this shouldn't happen with kkapture, since it reads directly from the OpenGL backbuffer, but for some weird reason, in this demo, screen size *does* matter.
- don't capture the sound, it will be broken for all but the first .avi file anyway
- hope the demo doesn't hang (I tried it at least three times before it run to the end)
- if the demo doesn't quit, wait a few minutes and then kill it using the Task Manager (Esc didn't work for me)
- now you should have a bunch of .avi files. The last one is probably broken, but the second-to-last one should end with a few hundred black frames anyway (that's why I said "wait a few minutes before killing the program")
- you need to sync the sound from the original .wv file (it's packed with WavPack, a free decompressor exists)
This approach worked for me (you can see the result at capped.tv), so I just hope it works for you, too.

great
FWIW, the corrupt sound stuff is fixed in kkapture 1.00. and no need to kkapture code.dll anymore.
missed that greatest gem in 2009...
<3
Should be on the first page of highest rated demos
Ya know, prods like this are why I still love the demoscene after 19 years. Two minutes and thirty seconds of outstanding design, code and music that light up your day.
Thank you Candela!
Thank you Candela!
great
Nice to watch. Style is somewhat similar to Candelas 2005 demo. I think the robot is reused here. Anyway, looks good, sounds good, a little short, but better this way than being bored to death. More of it, please
what CONS said
good
