My favourite Atari demo. Features lots of manga drawings, hardscroll, loads of overscan, 3d in overscan.... Anyone translate the French samples?
again a great st demo by holocaust. borderkilling, definetely the best 3d ever seen on st, goes on for ages.
can't download this masterpiece!
thx pete! (& for the manchester tip 2 ;)
Fullscreen or nothing
Atari at the limit!
Atari at the limit!
I have seen it, very cool, very fun!
IT ROCKED! Especially the first part featuring the "Keops and Severine" cartoon :)
Too bad I never had time to release a revenge demo zappy ;)

good stuff. the anime theme was especially cool.
Just breathtaking cool manga & tech stuff...hard to get it run on real STs though, the disks often do not run...
Great demo!
Aaaaahh
The rest of the posts kind of say what I wanted to say, I'm just here for the thumbs up!
Great classic.
Revenge demo Keops!
cool stuff
rocks!
released at Saturne party II!

Now, this one crashes already in disc 1. But you know something, I remembered someting. I didn't also tried all these demos yesterday in Saint. I only tried Steem. I forgot to also try them in Saint. Blah..
This demo used to work with SainT but doesn't really work beyond maybe... five screens into Disk 2, with SainT 1.99G. I know it USED to work because I've seen the entire thing at least once, and I've only recently tried STEem.
Works with SainT 1.99D, machine set up as STF with TOS 1.0 and 1 MB RAM.
Does not work with SainT 1.99G and those specs. (or any others, it seems). There, it crashes in the middle of the multiball section on Disk 2.
Nor does it work in STEem; it crashes just before the first "Holocaust" zooms in at the beginning (doesn't like that code?)

Cool as hell. Demo + manga == perfect combination for me :D
@RaHoW:
It's not "cartoons"! It's "japanese drawings" :Þ

holocaust !
A very nice demo filled with pictures and brilliant code. Even Keops couldn't help making a guest appearance :-) !

I was puzzled to find out that it even worked "a little bit" on an emulator. This thing worked flawlessly on Elric's machine and mine, but after releasing it we saw that it didn't work on a lot of real STs. We never bothered investigating why - we were already too busy working on "Blood" - but I'm not too surprised. We had a lot of troubles with this one. Everything was put together basically in 4 days before the party, writing half of the demo in the process, and it has probably been the most insane week of my life. At some point we lost the source code for the intro and the only remaining trace of it was a binary version already dumped to disk in its "final form" (we needed to do that to simply test the thing, as the final intro consumed too much memory and IIRC couldn't be ran with Devpack in the background). But we didn't give up on it and that unfinished-but-not-too-bad intro is still what you can see today. IIRC we ended up patching the decompressed code to take back control and continue the demo somehow, but that week was full of insane issues / hacks / tricks like this, it's a miracle this demo got released.

BTW you get a small starfield screen when booting disk 2, 3 or 4 (each one with a different music).
The french samples are from "Laspales & Chevallier" but I don't remember exactly what they said.
The sample at the end of the "Keops & Severine" cartoon is from Steve Vai's "Sex & Religion" album.
The fullscreen pics in the intro (that are completely skipped on some STs) are originally from a Cat's Eye / City Hunter art-book, and drawing them with Degas Elite, multiple palettes - and no mouse! - was a major pain in the butt.

:)
Huge, massive and efficient code, with nice Katsura pictures.
Zappy: greetings back from The Beast & Ranma Chan :)

oh and by the way, the french samples mean something like "we don't give a fuck about it" (on s'en branle Marceeeeeel)
4 disk demo! Good times!
fun (hehe keops, je ne me souvenais plus de cette part) , good code, nice pics (same if i'm not a manga fan)= a must to have in your collection and it's a HC prod again.
Too bad it's not very compatible with anything :-/
after realising it originally worked on 3 ST's on the entire planet. and how much the 3D is precalced i kinda feel like reconsidering my judgement. but seeing that most optimisation on this platform leads to precalc i think it ain't bad. the incompatibility is bad, though. i guess they had to rush it before people forgot what flatshaded polygons were like. falcon dsp texturemapping started dominating a few months later.
now the reason for me writing this: somebody make a video of this, pleasseee... ;)

shame it's rather hiccup-y - anyone got a nice video of it?
Aggressive code! As usual with Holocaust.
Hey, Keops, it's not too late to make a revenge demo, take Severine back! :)

RULEZ!
Yeaaaahhhh memories !
outstanding!
This demo is one of my favorite but it never ran on my STe machine.
I took some times to investigate why and made a patch for STe.
Enjoy the 22 years old late fix !

Awesome!
Some great code in this intro!
Years later...
Someone knows where I can download the STE fix ? Link seems to be broken ;-)
