I got pretty good at using Allegro. I decided that I was a wuss for using something so high level. Now I feel like I'm torturing myself... I like it in a kinky sort of way.

just woke up, had a good cup of coffee and watched this first demo :)

I don't know what Gargaj is talking about, 7z is becoming quite widespread and it rocks, more people should use it.

Other than that: o_O I know it's fun to release stuff, but something that's over 5 MiB in size, runs a few seconds, shows several HUGE (in terms of diskspace) pictures and one "effect" is, well, below mediocre to put it blunt.This could've been done a lot better on an Amiga 500 even.

If I were you I'd skip the SDL tutorials/books (you basically only need to understand how to plot pixels anyway) and instead learn how to do some basic effects like plasmas, tunnels etc.

7Zip is good packer and more popular than you seem to think. You might as well say rar is not popular, just because it doesn't come with Windows for the computer illiterate masses.

photon: i already had it installed, which makes me about 1% of the population who can just open a zip/rar instead.

Now that I think of it, I bet I could make an animated gif of this that would be smaller LOL! The real killer is all the images are 1024x768, and I didn't compress them much. I did try porting a tunnel effect I did over from Allegro, but something went horribly wrong with my circle algorithm! o.O

Fixed the size. Indexed pngs don't look to well. I will probably switch to jpg when I have the code in front of me.

SDL is good. Read some articles explaining some classic 2d effects and put some more time. I encourage enthousiastic crazy new sceners. It reminds me my good past.
