any decent organisers wouldn't have even shown shit like this in any compo. the tune is a total rip-off (do they have any copyright laws in denmark??? and why in the hell smash design had to change a song in their wilddemo because it was copyrighted, but this kind of total ripoffing was allowed?!) and the effects are UGLY and LAME.

ofcourse the danish lamer bastards voted for hybris/NEMESIS since they are such a big name, but the organisers should've had enough intelligence to disqualife this shit when that happened.

yes, it sucked that this placed 2nd, but how can you hold h/n responsible for that? they just had an mp3 song (that probably is very funny if you understand danish, who knows ;) that wasn't somehow played in the mp3 compo. since they wanted to have this song released as a tp entry, they decided to quickly (ie. in a few hours) throw together some demo with no other purpose than to feature this mp3. nothing bad about it thus far, imo.
but then came the voters and voted it on the 2nd place, which i guess came as a big shock to h/n, but they couldn't really do anything against that, could they?
somehow, i felt this years voting on tp was just a big joke...

Before the party we talked about reinventing the old lamer-demo and make the ultimate lamer-demo, but as with the rest of our stuff, we started to late (and had to make the ppot CD) this year... It's is not like we're proud of our second place... we talked to PET afterwards and excused 100%. He had the right scene spirit and understood what really happened. Thumbs up to him!!

Makes the Nextempire demo seem absolutely brilliant in comparison.

ok, so i just downloaded the demo and heard the tune. i must say that it is actually quite fun, it's in the same genre as the "karl koder.mp3" from tp2000. both feature a commercial tune with some new danish vocals.

now, seriously, every democompo deserves "some random shit" to be shown. the real problem is that this time it came second. why? well, there were about 6000 non-scene related reasons for that.

Sorry, guys. This demo was never ment as anything more than a laugh at the compo. I don't know why anybody would vote for it - I sure did not myself. (I voted for PET). In the OLD days lamer demos popped up all the time - people had a laugh and then voted for the good stuff. I thought that still applied. As I said at the Party, I am embarrased and sorry about the second place. Luckily PET was big enough to accept my apology, and I hope whoever got 4'th will do the same. Please do not blame the Party or the Gamers. Blame me, if you want.

hoed, with 15 years of scene experience.. let me tell you my little friend: this is the mother of all fuck ups in any party i have visited, and i have visited MANY. no matter how funny the lyrics or that newskool demos do consists only of 3d ... it just doesnt change the fact that this is 100% shit. you may go play quake now

You obviously don't like our demo, which is fine with me (it is a joke, ok?), but I must say that it seems that 15 years of scene experience haven't taught you that it is all about having fun. Lighten up a bit!
It is not that I like all the "WinAmp plugin" demos that much, but I respect them somehow and don't need to rant all the time about them.

Generally speaking and disregarding "Jeg er et Kvaj" many sceners are IMHO very single minded and can only appreciate what they make themselves. This is quite a natural attitude, but come on!

There are many kinds of demos and different forums for them, ie. TP != MS. Try not to end up being all stubborn and afraid of changes and differences in the spectrum. Think about it!

Beyond: that is true. i hate it. Still, i don't blame you for taking the second price. I rather blame voters and pll like Hoek for ruining the most important compo in demoparties. There is nothing wrong with the TP crowd. Sceners submitting demos for the TP compos know how the rules are, but afterwards they all get angry with the non-sceners votes. It is how TP works, and everybody knows it!

I make demos for fun... I like to entertain people... No more and no less! I don't do it for the prizes or the glory of it all... Even though it is a nice side effect.

2nd place is what the people have chosen. Demos are made for people, not sceners only. Unless we all live in a different planet, which comes to a surprise for me.

Demoscene in my book is about having fun, so second place prize money makes little sence to me.
