Good demos can be made with only one effect but being random doesn't guarantee style or lasting interest and it's going to have to be a hell of a lot more creative than this. It could've at least been a bit shorter because I think it's safe to say you've seen it all a bit earlier.
This reminds me of that old game where you act as a missile defense, the visuals are about as interesting but at least you could play that one.
