Great ambience and the scenes with frozen in time-objects look fantastic.
My personal winner. Yep, those "frozen" objects rules!
i really loved it (though it doesn't even get close to "fresh!"). some said it's ugly. i disagree.
Really impressive content. A bit boring though :)
it IS ugly... but hey, it's 64k!
well, its dirtugly and so on.. BUT! what i heard, smash removed random data and flags to reach 64k... its nice someone is learning from the best!
Some very nice ideas. and hey, it looks very different from most other things (except other fairlight intros). good to see that at least one group can live up to it's name.
Has potential, but rushed and unfinished party prods always deserve a thumb down in my opinion.
Nice one, was my favourite in the compo. And yes, the frozen objects are really cool.

i didnt see dabb say it was a compoversion at all? just he was curious and waited for a final?
and anyways, if you score second at a party sized as breakpoint and got an executable out before you release a working version, you shouldnt expect anyone care about filename.. really :)

So where is the compo version than uh? :)
hmm... this is not the version we saw at the bigscreen. looks really fucked up on my pc here.
anyway, i'm REALLY waiting for a final version or something like an official version to be released soon.
this rocked so hard, the concept is fantastic, i really expected this for the 1st place in the compo.
anyway, no thumb from me at the moment, i'll wait. (...)

well i found it in the somewhat "official" directory on untergrund.net. i agree, i could have seen its not 64k.
sry about that. anyway, theres nothing i could do about it now, so someone should delete this prod or update the link to the official release!

yep, now here is my thumb :)
+ Excellent soundtrack
+ Good concept & atmosphere - hello Tim Burton ;)
+ Some cool ideas
+ Good code
BUT:
- Ugly shadows
- The part with the cubes is very slow on my 6600 GT / Athlon 64 3000+
- Insane precalc duration with a mere blank screen
- As for the 70kb version, I simply ignored it since it's supposed to be 64kb, not 70.
No thumb up until a polished 64k version is released ;)

very cool!
Very different and original intro. Music perfectly fits the atmosphere. It is good to see someone tries to do different things in 64k category.
The cubes part was slow on my computer too and longest precalc i have ever seen..
But it rulezz , thumbs up...

im waiting for that final version O_o the compo version didnt really convince me.
It looked quite unfinished. Had some weak parts here and there. But I really liked the soul in it. Was the winner entry for me. But it could be way better with more "polishing"
I must admit I didn't find this intro too impressive at the party. However, it appears to work better if you're at home, and not totally fucked up by booze & jazz tobacco.
I liked the visual look and the cube-building thing, and the music sounds damn good for a 64k. The only things worth complaining about are the blindingly awful walking animation, some ugly shadows and the inexplicably slow first cube part. Other than that, good stuff! Looking forward to the final.

thanks for the show ! :)
was ok! The music was as of the later Fairlight PC's intros, just f***in' beautiful! The idea seemed nice with the design but could need a lot of polishing too recive my upward thumb.
+ nice engine, nice idea, nice objects
- slooow engine -> fucked up sound, awful colorscheme ( imo )

Something truely fresh from the Fresh man himself...nice one Smash!
I owe you that wine-coke Smash!
Very nice visualy! please release a final version!
These Fairlight 64ks just get better and better.
Can't wait for the next one.
Can't wait for the next one.
great work
Pretty amazing stuff, and strong in code, deisgn and music. I especially liked the clouds and the town. The walk animation doesn't look too good tho.. perhaps it can be improved for the final?
like it. rulez.
I like it!
Super!! Synth-music, visual!! Very fairlightish
The moral winner of the BP2005. Now go get that final out.
one the best intro for months and in the way demos should be unlike those boring 3D object rotating for the big screen.
Amazing music for these 64k (or 68k but WHO CARES?). Should be the winner at BP.
Please a final one.

beautiful!
Nice code smash , nice to see something from the UK
BUT
5mins waiting for 64k intro to load/precalc
64k intro that needs 2ghz to run ?
Run on 2.8ghz p4 with 768 meg memory and seriously slowed down :(
Bring back demos that load within seconds , run full frame rate and dont need mega machines to run!

Rushed unfinshed demo entered into compo due to lack of time i understand .. Why release it after the comp still unfinished promising a final to be releases soon ???
"Bring back demos that load within seconds , run full frame rate and dont need mega machines to run!"
Ah yes, back in the days when this was the whole point of the demoscene and when the demoscene had a point!

now you should appreciate that i managed to do a precalcbar in 4k :)))
anyway, do a final _and_ a video

Rules - nice to see someone trying to differentiate themselves..
And Shane: you have always been a lamer and will always be a lamer. Go troll on slashdot, im sure you make a great linux zealot.

Brillant music and eyes candy smooth tridi.
Thanks for the great show :)

I luv it for the same reasons as many of you do. Music, moody shadows/colors. Well,. yes, seems unfinished at some places (or I didn't understood the concept), but still rocks!
a really nice intro .. but i think fresh was better
Some of the best music in a 64kb i have heard, and love that sky :)
how could this NOT win??
It may be unfinished but this has style by the bucketfull, the music was cool too.
I eagerly await a final version.

music was nice, but next to that: profusely ugly, sorry.
I should fix Niels' comment. I think he meant to say that this was *not* profusely ugly. Not that it was completely gorgeous, though, but I liked the concept, the tune and the final shot.
And it certainly was more original than the other intros in the compo. Should've won.

Liked it.
Nice to have serious competition again.
(arrogant mode off ;)

astonishing music, I purely love it... Great 64k also, all is in the atmosphere, being a bit dark, it's greeeeeat ! Congrats to FLT !
Just one thing i don't understund... how the hell placed this just second ? :(
cool code.
great music.
I like it!
great music.
I like it!
i found it ugly too
really nice design, but it´s very slow for the number of polygons and the precalculating time is awful...
Straight up dope. Also, thumbage doubled for putting the 'who's gonna win' back in Breakpoint pc 64k compos (:
neat style and very good music; much love to flt-demo
This rocks! I really love this one!
i say: great stuff!
best in the compo for sure! really nice atmospheric burton-like intro.. those shadows give an extra creepy feeling.. thumbs up!
This is even better at 4am in the morning.
An absolute classic!
Codeman: you really should get your head out of your ass, you code in shitzbasic so how can you comment? This has style and individuality not like your 2bit mofo ripped throwback shit.

Nice and fresh and definitely not ugly. Very good athmosphere thanks to the nice soundtrack. The cubes scenes look somewhat slow, even though the cubes themeselves seem to move smoothly...
Nice, dark theme. The rendering is amazing, as always, but it kills my CPU. Time for an upgrade, me thinks.
Every prod that tries characters should get a really big bonus. Death and taxes should have won the compo.
+ time-freezed animation of cubes
+ cloud animation
+ lighting
+ character
+ passepartout
+ music
- long preload; shadow artifacts; double credits; end; typo

wonderful soundtrack and overall great impression.
it´s a really great intro! well done!!
it´s a really great intro! well done!!
yeah, using passepartout design was nice, but perhaps a bit overused. killer soundtrack (are you wendy carlos?) and stunning graphics production. the boggy cube stuff will be fixed hopefully. anyways, keep on doing moody stuff like this, it's really inspiring!
YEAH!
well done
nice mood, nice style - again. it's fun to see your prods.
looks like a nice intro, but it runs way too slow on my system. the final scene runs smoothly, but thats the only scene worth praising. it would have been a nice slideshow anyhow.
fresh and funky!
mindblowing style.
and the code as well tends to blow up my win2k, so, a Final would rule :)

Yes, it looks like a rough draft in several places, but this still rules. The freeze-frame physics, the buildings that aren't perfectly prismic, the fading out rectangular screen segments, etc.. Can't wait for a final.
I really love fairlight since years but it's a bit boring :)
I'll wait for the final, but the party intro was cool!
nice work... but a little bit boring
there is some magic within this intro, although i dont get the story and its not visually too appealing for me as well [except for the character!]
rocked at the party
Well done, very moody. Shadows were buggy though.
maybe if I was depressed this would get more than a piggy from me!
Curious!
A great visual-impact and a spherical atmosphere.
This rocks!
Feels good to see the 1987's phenix Fairlight from the ashes of West Coast Crackers (WCC) is still alive and kicking in 2005!
Greetings from old friends.
Cheers

Kill a Commie for Mummy!
Great work. Great precalc.
The compo version doesn't seem to work here, but the not-so-final version was definitely worth the download. Nice atmosphere.
nice cubes :P
very very nice intro actually, found the music quite boring... else ive digged it a lot, remind me of Tim Burton.
Moody track by Reed... it's special and stands out very well from the rest that currently floods the scene. Extra respect to that. Keep up the great work, folks.
i love the look and mood of this. very well done!
well, flt done it again.
it's cool... nice boxy placement log stuffs.. nice design work, very clever code

Ok!
not very interesting, but great soundtrack.
Yuppz
An other refreshing intro by FLT.
you would be a fool to miss this...
sure thing!
Not 100% my taste, but really solid and impressive 64K.
Fab intro! The cubes are a nice touch and I really like Reed's tune.
Another masterpiece by Tim Bur... *cough* I mean Fairlight ;)
to slow pacing for my taste, but as said, reeds music is good stuff...
wtf?
Can't say I thought much about it when I first saw it, but now I see how awesome the fog and the music (and the general demo, too) is. I like.
btw, is the music available for download seperatly?
music: ok; block stuff: nice; guy walking: piggy;
Fantastic stuff!
I love the music.
nice one
i still like this one very much.
/me too
not bad
Slooooow even on 2008 year computers.
apart from the walking dude I like pretty much everything in here, especially the music
A couple of very good cropped frames, and a high quality sound. Also the visual touch is so 2005. :)
final version!
still looks nice and music is great.
Has both good and strange moments...
nicey!
late thumb
tries to fly a bit too close to the sun, the script is hard to follow and the editing and camerawork are weird, rendering ends up looking more broken and unfinished than impressive despite the advanced features
Fifteen years and still probably the best music i've heard from the demoscene.
Solid!
cool ideas but feels rough
