finally defjam matched it to upload a one-file-version... suretrip is, even unfinished, the technically most impressive st mega demo so far... this demo doesn´t run on any emulation so far due the fact that there are a lot of new-school fx are presented in fullscreen or overscan, maybe OXYGENEs forthcoming emulator called "SainT" can handle it? anyway, if you own a 1mb stfm you should get this demo!

my favourite ST demo of the last couple of years - what happened to the other 51% though? ;-)
A really impressive demo technically speaking but as the name shows, it's unfinished and that's why the design is really poor... That's a pity, because with some artistic improvement, it would have been a killer...
Anyway it deserves a "rulez" for the amount of work involved...

yay
"some lame demoshit" my ass!! this stuff kicks whalebutt! basicly it's like obnoxious falcondemo on st but with even more advanced 3d techniques.
my only comments: some fx are repeated too long and 80x50 is maybe a bit too low res (other parts have higher res).
but otherwise: what a brainkiller!

I hate the low framerate, those 2x2 pixels etc...
but still, it's very good technically speaking :)

404 :(
Still one of the most asskicking ST demos (codewise ;) )
This one is just an ACE prod ! Its a sure trip..:-)
some good efx in there...but hm colors are terrible sometimes... not a real style...and the efx are shown too long...but anyway good demo ;)
Nice
Killed the competition at eil..
kickass!
Imagine my surprise when I saw it: It was around '99, and I wasn't even aware that there was an atari scene, let alone make such demos :)
A few words about the demo: Technically awesome, first time I ever saw multi-VBL fullscreens that had more than an "in your face" effect.
Some design would be a definite plus, but, as stated, it's unfinished. So, better an unfinished demo, than one that lies on hold (forever!) until it's perfect.
A pure culture shock!

Strange that I didn't commented on this one before..
Very good work.
well done
Even in this unfinished state one of my favourite newschool ST demos!

I always get a crash in emulator just before the overscan tunnel.
In SainT, I even here the disk loading before it and it doesn't reach even the gfx with the girl with bit tits. I see in the readme file there are two MSA (suretrip1 and suretrip2) and am I supposed to connect them in one MSA with a utility or something? Help,. I must see this demo in it's entirety!!!

optimus: it hangs on some real st's too. defjam also confirms this.
more crap: alot of screens use 4x4 pixels.
more praise: the multi-vbl tunnel with transparant 1 VBL background is still one of the best st screens ever.

Optimus: Try Steem instead of Saint (both great emulators, but Steem usually has slightly better compatibility) I just ran through Checkpoint in fast forward mode, my settings in Steem 3.2 were Tos 2.06, 4 meg ram, although other settings probably works too.
Anyway about the demo, my chin dropped the first time I saw it and I was thinking that many of the effects were animations, as I could not get how an Atari would be able to do that. (I hadn't seen many newscool demos at the time I saw it) There are plenty of other demos using similar effects today, and the framerate is sometimes a bit too low. But thumbs up for broken boundaries in Atari demo making.

Nope: I have exactly the same Steem version and tried both Tos 1.02 and 2.06, US or UK, 8Mhz, 16Mhz, 1MB, 2MB, 4MB, to save state in the part before it crashes and try more. But no..
..well, in fact somewhere in the past I had run it till the end. Actually, in the past (with another Steem version) it would crash after the girl in the overscan tunnel with mod music. Except if exactly at the tunnel I changed the Mhz from 8 to 16 and then back (this affected the overscan, produced some wrongly displayed gfx, but could overcome the tunnel effect). I don't remember what was after that (some 3d objjects with fire?) but maybe I have save some snapshot somwerhe? Mmm,. now I can't get it to that point anymore..

Hmm...it seems I had a different disk version than available for download here, don't know if I've pasted together the disk segments myself with some tool or found it somewhere else (though google was unable to find SURETRIP.MSA anywhere), anyway here it is (although this is probably not a permanent link, so don't count on it to work in a few years time.) Also this version might work with Saint too, but I haven't tested.

Well,.. actually that was the problem.
Now with the new MSA image, it runs till the end (and the fullscreen tunnel with mod sound is also displayed well this time with the new Steem), and I remembered there were way more cool parts. Fire lines, bump scroll and my all times impressive in the end, a textured cube with effects in it's sides and later feedback effect upon all the screen!!! Yey, I can finally watch it without trickying the emulator! Thanks :)

The only thing that beats this is POSH. Amazing code, do not even comprehend how these effects can be done on the ST!
This demo is barely believable. Absolutely brilliant!
Yeah this one awake me ... Defjam roks ;-)
Brutal code, brutal prod ! I love the (slow) 3d-fire and lot of other things.
One of the best demo on ST with Posh and Suretrip II...

An excellent classic.
I've left it *how long* to thumb up?! Very remiss of me.
Very very good. An excellent demo for ST. Made me smile ;-)

super impressive!
Crashes before the end like the others above said.. shame as it's awesome until then!
just great
One of my favourite ST prods.
(never thumbed it before, really... well mistake now fixed)
