I was about to send my comment yesterday but the network was down :P (Hopefully I managed to submit the demo before)

I thought this was added here before. I tried to find this demo again yesterday, searching for half an hour around the net and wondering why it's not here. And it was, according to dhs scenenews, and there were comments for it. Is something happening on Pouet and things are lost from the db? It's not the first time I wondered "Wasn't this added here before?". Or was it because of that Pouet crash? This was a valuable demo and I was searching it like crazy around..

yep, I was sure, it was already there 0_õ
Anyway, this demo is great. The first part is better than the intros of many ST games. And there's a lot of effects, great pics, ... well in short, that's a DUNE demo.

SO good!!
(Reset disk 2!)

Great visuals as always with Dune.

The first part is boring though, like Alcatraz's odissey demo :)

The comic style intro is very good but somehow its also a bit long. Some nice effects but also some usal Dune blendings.

Wonderfull I must say.

great! the only main sucking point is some pretty harsh transitions. but who cares ;)

Mic is a gfx-god :) ...btw the intro was also used in their game "Space Fighter".

nice demo

Stunning demo, unfortunately very late released, so that several parts appeared in a game on the ST that was coded by Dune members in the middle nineties...

Some good bits but a demo we never really managed to finish properly and lacking of a real style at some point. That's what happens when you start mega "it gonna blows everything" productions without actually planning or designing things properly before starting the work. We were young and foolish :-)

A lot of nice graphics here, nice music too and effects are not bad either. Apparently the people behind this demo have watched certain Talent, Kefrens and Melon Dezign. Amiga demos. :) The only thing I dislike here is the very long and boring intro part.

nice demo and specially thanks for doing the finalization work so it got released in the end!

stingray: strange, I specially liked that intro part ;)

Hmm disk 2 always crashes for me.
It gets a bit into the demo until the bouncing dragonball screen. The graphics in that screen are mostly corrupted, except for the logo on the left side and the dragonball itself.
Then when the next screen is supposed to load, it just crashes with 2 bombs.
I have tried this on both HD and DD disks. I wrote the msa files with MSA 2.3 on my 1040 STFM. And I have TOS 1.02.

What am I doing wrong?!

It's such a shame too because what I do see of the demo is very very nice. =/

Hmm never mind. I tried the demo in STEem-linux and it crashes there as well. So it seems that the MSA image for disk 2 is corrupted unfortunately.
Hopefully someone comes along that has a working image.

I'll give the demo a thumbs up now anyway because I know that it's pure awesomeness anyway :)

Aah, well. Disregard my last post. It appears that you need more than 1mb of ram, otherwise it crashes where I described. Sorry for the false info.
added on the 2008-06-07 13:11:25 by krs krs
Well, this is simply **INCREDIBLE** stuff for 1Mb (or more).
Entire demo is excellent and additionally it shows how powerful pure ST graphic is.

a must to see, if u like good demos..
The place to be party again!! nice place each years for looking great ST demos..
Well it was dammed time :)
rulez added on the 2009-11-06 10:45:41 by sINk sINk
yeah, especially when this was actually released 9 years after that party.. ;)

btw, i can't believe i didn't thumb up this one yet?

it's a quality demo but it was finished too late.. it didn't come anywhere near raping my brain at that time (2003). i prefer the intro of the game EPIC to this (largely because of Gustav Holt's "Mars" movement, and the apocalyptic atmosphere). however, the graphics are certainly better in Illusion. bravo to Mic and Chuck.

3d seems quite fast, and as usual supported by brilliant graphics!

What StingRay said!
rulez added on the 2014-09-10 21:01:51 by Daniel Daniel
Has a ton of nice graphics in it. The intro is quite boring I think mostly because of the lack of proper music.
rulez added on the 2015-03-11 22:02:08 by dodke dodke
pretty decent graphics and code. music on first parts is a bit grainy. but maybe it was the youtube capture?!

Just got a Mega STE and going through some old (and new) Atari demos.
This one really stands out. Fantastic graphics, great music. All around a very well put together production.

What a trip on pure ST !!!!

Great demo!! Does not look like a ST one.
rulez added on the 2017-07-15 19:59:15 by Sir_Lucas Sir_Lucas
that was great!
Awesome stuff all around. Great graphics and atmosphere in the first part, but the sampled music is repetitive and a tad long; the second part makes up for it big time, and has lovely transitions and eye for detail.

Almost forgot about this gem. Great gfx and design typical for it's time.

Better late than never let's mention ST GHOST in the credits. He debugged that demo and without him it would have never been released! He worked in the shadows of bigger names but is the true hero here!

so many good effects even for 2003.
I'd like to watch it in 1993
