I'm afraid I'll never be able to recreate the feeling of waking up while the democompo is already running, stumbling to the main area zombielike and half asleep and witnessing this on the big screen.

Still, nothing short of absolutely brilliant.

Effects are so amazing. It's way too boring, and I almost watched the whole thing (comparing to mp3 length)... Well, I may be little tired or something, cuz I usually don't press esc during demos.

this was simply put fucking awesome and at the same time the best demo I've seen in a long time. total ownage, maximum respect!

it's a gorgeous thing... very cinematic music (kinda glitchy twin peaks-ish) and mesmerizing visuals.. if i could get it to run at a decent frame rate, it'd be pure bliss.

Um.. I get 2 frames/sec on my 2GHz with Geforce 4. Even the music chops and skips and whatnot.

Hmm well it's an ok art demo, the way the white liney things popped out of existance was a bit jarring, and didn't suit the rest of the visuals.
Oh and it had two effects, which would be far too few in a normal demo, but in an art demo, it's far too many. :)

i find this prod hard kind of hard to rate. the soundtrack is marvellous - true cinema atmosphere.

and then we have the visuals. super simple textures that look quite ok when repeated in Z direction. but when they hit the near clipping plane, they disappear instantly (why not just FADE them out, guys!?) and reveal their full crappiness. and that's all there is in terms of "effects".

maybe i have the "coder's view" disease... if something is so simple that i know exactly how it was done, it doesn't capture me anymore. anyway, i do think you could have put a little more effort in the visuals.

but how can it be that there are coders left out there that don't know that 2^n radial blur trick? (well, i call it crashzoom). that should speed things up by factor 4 to 8, and no more need to pop out planes...

And like most other Eurotrash art, cold and emotionless, but it will hold the attention of the drug-hungry, and those who feel they won't be cool and hip if they're not into it. Like it or not, this is a trend. But hey, by the end of the year many more groups will think they're artistic geniuses, and this genre will be overdone, so maybe the scene will get sick of it and move on.

i think that even a moving, white pixel on a black screen could make a great demo IF somebody would develop something around it that FITS.

this one has potential but doesn't evolve enough to fully reach its goal. still, definitely in the better half of the demos released at altparty.

and yes, very cool soundtrack.

I will not put a "sucks" symbol, because I believe that there are a lot of very bad demos. That one was simply looonnnngggg to watch during the party place.

Anyway, for Chaos that wrote "best alt party release so far", you should know that there are some mistakes in pouet.net registrations... some entries were put in "Alternative Party (2003)" and some were put in "Alternative Party 4 (2003)".

I hope that someone will be able to correct all these mistakes.

Bored me to death

Allright, I was a bit harsh last time, but, I tell it like it is. To be fair, I watched it again with music at full volume (rather than near silent late at night like last time). The audio definitely adds atmosphere to it. Still, I don't see it so much as a demo, as a "living" screensaver. Like melw said, it didn't reach its full potential. Years from now, these guys will be viewer as either artistic geniuses, or stoned. :)

While it initially seemed interesting, I started to feel pretty indifferent about it about half-way through, and as it neared its conclusion, I couldn't wait for it to end. I've tried several times since its release to give it another chance, but I haven't made it through to the end since. Art, no matter what form it takes, should be first and foremost, engaging to the viewer, listener, or what have you. Ufortunately, HWR2 failed to connect with me in the way that it has some of the users here.

Pretty cool but what's with the code? I mean, even the music started clicking and stuff...

Still the best ambient/art/noise demo around! Fantastic atmosphere and the soundtrack is a killer.

Zooming and blurring...not exactly creative or challenging stuff here. Not even mentally or visually stimulating for me. The end result looks like the sort of mush you get when you run 20 Photoshop filters together.

I wish someone could explain the appeal of this stuff, because the only explanation I can understand is this one:
