my mind is being challenged here... i can't tell if this is real or not...

I thought it looked like utter shit and the scroller revealed the reason why.
low quality b8
.
This was not made by us, so someone is apparently having their fun in a very classy way...
Lmao get fucked
Also delete prod
Fuck fascists.
Solid entry in the NES mapper war / drama.
impersonation sucks
Not bad. :]
So... It was vibe coded. Okay... but which LLM was used? Grok, Claude... maybe a local model?

Lol fuck AI.
Also what NR4, Ziphoid, Kimi, 4gentE, Wullon, Preacher, Okkie and Bitl said. The rest of you can go suck donkey dick.

Damn! How did you do the music?
Even if i cared about AI, this prod is still very basic and lackluster. Get this outta here!
Maybe tomkh his revenge for all the pain he suffers? :-)
turbolame
lol, you guys are mental honestly...
otherwise: very nice little demo! esp. music, also nice provocation too, those sad people definitely deserve it :)

But it's stolen. Lol
You call "nice" a ripoff with stolen music, released under the name of a group that has nothing to do with this crap?
And then "mental honestly" is us? :)
But it's stolen. Lol

AI kills the scene.
crappy rAIzor fan art without even some effort. congrats, you suck :)
bitl: so you enjoy stalking me now? You know you are border-line cyberbullying?
For this prod, I have nothing to do with it.
It's interesting provocation though and it seems to working great.

chil, bro, it's cyberbullying
So yeah, considering you all form apparently a close group of friends who pat each others back on the daily basis, endorsing this and similar cyberbullying behaviors (some example) makes you equally responsible. A food for thought.
I'm thumbsdowning to counteract tomkh's thumbs up, also because free glop!

Caveat: no matter if author says "stolen", they actually gave credit to the original composer. And if the song was in public domain, it's not considered stolen.
lol, no.

this is the first down i ever give on pouet i think
i agree it should be deleted for the sole reason that someone used someone elses name, no matter what else, what other reason do you need ?

Thanks for reacting.
I'm an impostor.
Even though I took part in quite a few demo parties with a lot of people about 30 years ago.
I went to the 3S Party in 1994 with Gengis and some guys from Melon, The Place to Be in 1996, ...
Maybe I should have used Melon, since they never fully paid their share of the gas and tolls, or Oxygene, since Oxbab never gave me back my Amiga News Tech magazines or my Amiga Bible.
I remember Melon's demos — not particularly technical, but very stylish.
Or the dramas around the graphics competitions: "This is a scan, not manually drawn."
I even remember seeing drawings that had been straight-up stolen from an art book.
I am happy to open a new chapter.
So yes, there is absolutely no chance that I could have written a single line of MOS 6502 assembly.
But I do wonder: does this matters?
I've seen plenty of productions that were much, much worse than this one.
I used Antigravity and Claude (hence the Claude Code logo wearing a headband and a pirate hat). It must have taken me about three hours, including the Dockerized and headless setup — which was also done by AI.

If this is even sincere - use your own name/ideas for prods and you'll find people willing be slightly less pissed off.
But also, AI

***IF*** it was in the public domain with permissive license. I thought it goes without saying. Still giving credit is better than no giving credit, right?
Besides as author admitted this is not a serious prod.

Nothing is cheaper than past glories, as if you wouldn't count because you didn't make a demo 30 years ago ? (o wait .... euhm ... i see :D )
im not much into "the scene" as such but we all love demos very much, which has gotten a lot less since a.i. makes it so a demo does no longer equal a display of skill
but boy
i havent seen a slew of reactions this long here in a very long time ...
personally
im not a crusader against a.i. even though we all consider it nothing more than an enhanced version of google on ever-larger datacenters, there's nothing i to it, thats just gestalt and loneliness, wishful thinking and self-fulfilling prophecy and
to think someone pays a billionnaire to buy tokens in order to teach said billionnaires cash cow their skills so it can use those in the future to make an (any) program and say "it still took me a week" (for one)
i dont even get that part, must be my borderline autism
as for demos and art ... to think someone would use that thing and claim "my work" on it
well id say its hilarious but it no longer is
its killing demos, art, animation actors, voice acing and gods know what more instead of maybe trying to fold some protein or something useful
art is dead
i have a.i. paranoia i cant trust any retro game or demo anymore
we got off the train years ago when pT-4 announced it took the world (and boy it did)
im sorry , friends, romand countrymen and commilitones, since the late 70s and ataripaddles its been a ride up until some years ago but
its tainted
and you there, mister guy-man
you dont use somebody elses name, in legal terms thats actually a crime in their world
for all we care a.i. (even "assisted") demos get either their own section or banned, theres tons of sites that deal in a.i. generated art where guys with too much money wank off on "mom look what i can do" with pics they paid in tokens
BUT
i feel like im feeding the trolls talking one more word on this thread (and its not my site)
if it were my site it would have been deleted ....
we have spoken ... now
does anyone have some "LOOK AT MY l33T SKILLz WHICH YOU CANT HACK IF YOU TRIED AT GUNPOINT" demos anymore ? im starving for some of those
I am deleting this prod .
I will return as Impostor / Fraud
I guess the next step will be to buy a DMA CARD and release faster with AI :)

Isn't that quite a harsh thing to say about everyone who commented on this prod?
Does this production claim to be a production of a crew which has nothing to do with that ?

You don't understand do you. First, there's no such thing as public domain in many jurisdiction. You *cannot* put your work in such public domain in that case.
Second, that's just *not* how the scene works.
Guys, my little 3-hour Saturday experiment really doesn't need that much reaction.
It seems you can't delete a post once it's been published, as there's no delete button — you can only edit it.

Could AI code a demo for FAMICOM? You might think the result is crap, but honestly, it was way beyond what I expected in such a short amount of time.

I'll keep the next thing I do to myself.

I think the issue is not that you didn't keep it to yourself but that you didn't actually _do_ anything.
There's an output, so I had to intervene at some point.
If you mean I barely put in any effort, I've been open about that.
You could have the same debate about hand-painting a portrait versus just clicking on the button of a camera.

No. Maintenant tu sors merci.
This is a very interesting artifact in that it rubs salt into the wounds of current AI, cultural, and demoscene discourse. Cudos for that. And please don't delete. Shame the video is already gone.
The comments are very interesting.

Quote:

Absolutely not.
Yes, a camera frees you from getting out your paint brushes and a canvas and painting the image yourself, but even with a camera,
You choose a location. You choose a motive. You perhaps arrange the people and stuff that you want to photograph, or set up lights, or other equipment.
You set up the camera. You balance ISO, shutter speed, aperture, you set the focus, and even if you leave it on auto, you check the viewfinder or display and don't just press a button and hope anything comes out.
But first of all you don't just sit at home and tell your camera to go out and photograph some stuff, and if it's not what you wanted, tell it to try again.
And then you don't print your photo, go into a gallery, and hang your photo next to the paintings, and you certainly don't visit a gathering of painters and go "look at what I've made". (ofc in the beginnings of photography people did that but turns out, they don't anymore. Curious!)
You didn't code anything, you didn't do any graphics (let's skip the music, different discussion). You didn't acquire new skills or sharpened your existing ones. You may have learned how to prompt AI better but that's akin to getting experienced in calling a pizza delivery service and then serving it to your friends, going "I cooked this". "A delivery service is just a tool for my culinary expression".
Seriously, the difference between "I made something" vs "I asked someone to make something" is basically Sesame Street level, and I don't really know how to discuss anything with people who can't even comprehend a concept as simple as this.
And,
Quote:
There's an output, so I had to intervene at some point.
Had you though? Would there be any difference if you just told an agent to zip the result, upload it, create a pouet account and add it here? All you did was the grunt work, the stuff the machine could easily done by itself, but for some reason you decided that the boring, mechanical part is the part you wanted to do while leaving the interesting, creative part to the Bullshit Generator. If Claude (or whatever) wanted to prove it's capable of writing NES intros it could have just done it itself without leaving that to an unpaid minion.
Yet, here we are, and the only good thing anyone was able to say was "oh look how edgy and provocative it is". They can't even explain how and why, or how that's any different from the same edgy, provocative shit from two years ago.
In short: don’t be a meat proxy.
But if you decide to be one, don’t be surprised when people treat you like a useless slab of meat that adds no value to anything.

It’s called REVERSE CENTAUR. This inversion of creativity that some shallow people mistake for actual creativity. This slavish oiling of the machine, while machine is the creator. Thanks Cory for this vivid description. Some people are professionally forced into being the reverse centaur, but to choose this for yourself as a “creative outlet” is beyond mindless.
Project manager in many agencies I worked for all believed they were quintessential to the projects. Since LLMs, it's obvious to me these people were effectively prompting other humans to do the work they could not do, until the moral would improve.
I don't think using AI is the main problem here. The guy didn't just release yet another piece of AI slop. He put “RAZOR 1911 present” on it, even though he has absolutely nothing to do with RAZOR 1911.
You'd get punched in the face for that in polite society.

Thumbs up to make up for the undeserved hate.
@arnaudha: Whatever you read here, remember that most people in the demoscene (and even on Pouët!) are sane and don't go around hurling insults or spewing venom left and right.
Just to be safe, next time you do a joke-prod release it as a Razor 2011 demo. ;]

You do realize you thumbed up EVERY AI prod ever, good or bad, hate or no hate, right?
Nah this shit deserves all the hate it gets, and anyone dumb enough to thumb this shit up for the lulz (or defend this in any way) is a lost cause. And they also suck donkey dick.
@4gentE: Yes. I realize that I have more control over my thumbs than you have over all your fingers.
I mean, the solution is _so_ simple. Just vibe code a Pouet replacement, host it somewhere, wave goodbye to us Luddites who inexplicably value things like "art" or "craft" or "anything of value, really", and foster a new, thriving community made of...
people like you.
Well, fuck.

Oh OK. Then I guess you just love pretending. Luckily it’s ridiculously easy to see through. But it’s kinda embarassing.
I think the easiest solution is not to add AI production to pouet?
I only wonder how much the trend will just fade away. In the demoscene it makes no sense, we create demos just to show off. In the outside world I think it will be more years of "look at Claude Poltergeist 10.666 it one-shooter a full souls-like in 5 secs, it would take me 1000 years to do this by hand". Kinda tired of it actually all over twitter.
Here,. it's mostly a joke or copying current fads, but showcasing the AI instead of something you crafted yourself will get boring soon. I think at least the full vibe coded version of it will disappear and remembered as a bad joke (for regular demos, I predict sceners will even secretly or not partially use AI till nobody bothers anymore, prepare for other drama).

drama thumb
good job!
good job!
.
Still, it's funny that some people think this is good provocation or just a nice way to create drama.
Maybe my sense of humor is broken, but to me the guy just dumped a pile of shit, right into his own pants. Sure, some people might call that provocative art. I don't.
A good troll/provocation would be something like this:
- The guy releases a genuinely amazing demo without saying it was made with AI. Nobody suspects a thing. It gets a hundred thumb up and tons of praise. Then he comes out and says: "Surprise, it was AI".
- Or the other way around. He releases a masterpiece and says it's AI. He gets a bunch of hate, then reveals that it wasn't AI at all and that he actually made the whole thing by hand.
Now that would be provocative and bold. Not everyone would like it, sure, but at least there'd be some point to it.
But shitting your pants and then going "Haha, it was trolling"... I don't know. Pretty lame.

If this thing had won Revision, I’d understand all the fuss, but even the title indicates it’s a joke demo, made just for fun and with no intention of shaking the foundations of the demoscene... or whatever it is that has some of you so scandalized.
2ham: well, once it's a joke, twice... maybe. But by the tenth time, it's not funny anymore. There have already been like fifty AI slop releases of various kinds. This isn't original anymore.
At this rate, there could be joke demos every day, released under the Farbrausch, ASD, Fairlight, etc. names. We'll be laughing our asses off.

releasing something under a group you aren't member is even worse than using ai. if you are such a scene veteran as you claim you are, you should know that.

Lol Imgur on mobile sucks lmao
woaw.
We lost faith in "the" scene lately but to see this much reaction against "mom, look what i can do" art by pT-1000 is kind of heartwarming. The almost unanimous opinion on the use of someone elses name to credit being a capital crime even more.
the last bastion ? soon Arnie breaks through the door and all you have is five shells left to send him to /dev/null
the guy probably got a little more attention than he deserved here, maybe that was the intention, he just felt lonely and needed a hug

Let's clarify the "intention" once and for all.
I never intended to take credit for anything I didn't do, troll anyone, or whatever.
It was Saturday morning. I woke up early while my kid was still sleeping. I had a few hours to kill and some tokens left before the weekly reset.
So I thought: could AI create a small demo on a system I know nothing about?
When I saw the result, I thought I should share it.
My biggest mistake was using that group name. It was simply the first one that came to mind because they are the current best known group. To my knowledge, they never released anything for the NES, and I wasn't really trying to impersonate them, since I didn't initially plan to share the result at all.
Yes, it required knowledge I didn't have, but it also required knowledge that I did have. Everything was done on a headless machine and inside a container because I didn't want to permanently install anything. The idea of using an emulator running inside a browser so the AI could see the result on a headless machine was mine.
This wasn't me simply going into a chatbot and prompting it to "make a NES demo." If you think AI could achieve that today without any tech knowledge and guidance, then you probably have less knowledge about the subject than I do.
As for "learning nothing": I did learn about NES mappers and about the Konami VRC6.
I have now requested that the result be deleted.
Peace and Love.

Did an AI write that for you? No-one gives a fuck about your excuses.
I don't think this "entry" should be deleted.
By the large amount of contributions and reactions it collected, it looks to me like a landmark about the resistance of demoscene to AI slop and such (and this will affect the Demoscene).

So you released a false AI demo under the name of the group that is (as far as I know) adamantly against AI. If there was no mal-intent, well then there was a lot of ...how to put it nicely... dumbfuckery. Wow. You finally had your big demoscene break. Congratulations. Be sure to buy and burn more AI tokens for such noble causes, stick it to those goddamn environmentalists. No need to speak any more.
Peace and Love.

now the next thing that the real Razor 1911 should do is make a demo for the NES :)

heaa, easy fella!
We will have to consider that OP has issues understanding the scene despite having gone to demoparty in a time where doing these sorta shit may have even more frown upon? Right, maybe.
But uploading on pouet of all places? Come on… or was it the llm telling you to do so?
Funny how I have seen that somewhere else lately…
And the part about it running in a container is hardly a feat.
And wow ha! Nes mapper is 101 and easily findable for whoever decide to actually program a nes demo himself.

and 'i came up with the idea' is so funny to me. "Idea men" have been around since forever, but they could never actually do anything, so they were harmless, but now with AI they think they're hot shit too when they show off their buggy shite lmao
doing is currency and on the web, it helps with attention, which is also currency.
so it's not wonder some want a bit of that currency.
what's weird is spending money in order to get internet points, I guess it's F2P mentality applied to life itself.

Oh for sure, buying yourself into things when you cant do shit can be very successful, see musk for example, and this prod is surely getting the attention!!! hurk!
If we post enough shite here, will this get to the top of the month even with all the thumb downs?

The mistake was sharing it here. You could have written a blog post about it, show it and explain your process to others at a demo party, etc. But this is not a release.
