all started with I want to do a GBA demo and I was interested in how Gemini Pro can help me in doing so... esp. I never learned c++.... that is the end of my first "vibe" coding experiment. demo started in May and hours went into refining and crying, yelling, fcking at Gemini Pro to do it properly like I wanted it.... also with the constraints of the GBA and the demo system. I throw in 6502, PureBasic PC prototypes, ideas, ways to optimise to get it done...

It might have been a much better demo if you had invested the time in learning C++ and GBA-specs rather than prompting - but probably not until Nordlicht, so I'm a bit undecided about the use of AI here.

I'm also wondering why everything is running so slowly. Is your code completely executed from ROM or are you copying it to internal WRAM?

Well... Most effects are running from iWram. I guess only the heightmap, title and bars effect not.

I hate c++ as I am an Basic and ASM guy and all started with that there is no framework with a mod player I can work with so I started to play around with learning c++ and went mad with those syntax and all ancient fuckery. And as there was a discussion with sceners about using AI esp. Gemini Pro I tried to pull off a plasma in minutes. Then I started to tell Gemini pro to optimise for speed etc all the typical tasks I would do myself. Then I thought ok... Then go the full demo approach knowing I got full blown by the scene.

But ask Axis etc in the end I spend a loooot of time getting it optimised.

On the other hand... F.e. the heightmap was done virtually in minutes...
And all the buzz about vibe coding I wanted to try myself what is that all about. Just for the records I am in real life business guy and not a coder so.... At least I know the pitfalls... And the pros.

Axis asked me if it was actually fun? I must admit... Yes... Different than coding each fcking line of code myself... But where is the difference than using a fast loader system you don't coded yourself? Or copy paste stuff from codebase64? Etc etc...using Blender and export your stuff or or or...
