I've had an idea similar to kb's suggestion for another update of the PAWT script.

What if the users table of Pouet had a counter of people having marked them as "attention whores" ? It's a bit radical but easier and faster to implement. With this new field, the users could know who are the famous AW and quickly make their own opinion on these users. That field could also be tested against a threshold to automagically mark the users as annoying users.

Oh, and I'm wondering if always displaying the TR containing the date and name of the users ( regardless that they are real users or AW ) who wrote a comment would be a big distraction. To do that easily it'd only require to not set the class="cite-userId attribute on these TRs.

how about the good old "if you're not interested, don't read it" solution? It worked for the past 5 years. don't make pouet any more inaccessible or complicated than it already is!

kb, per user it would work i guess.
but i reckon that most people here are trolls from alot of people view.

but a funnier thing would be to have a rating somehow on how many demo/intro/etc releases one have been apart of, writing for a diskmag is ofcourse valued to zero in this.

then together with that troll level, you could see who are attentionwhores, those who scream without producing must be thought about as attentionwhores i guess :)

I believe we had a discussion a while back about rating users.

I think we decided this was not something we wished to do, in general, as it did more to spread ill will than good will.

And as such, creating tables of users 'troll levels' is in reality, rating users.

I would suggest that leaving it personal, using a blocking mechanism that is dependant upon no one but your own taste, and leaving no marks on the website as to who you've ignored, spreads the least ill will.
I dont like the idea of censor them, but i do like the idea of having the data, it would be fun - like a cool-o-meter for the users!

it seems that the best solution is to let the user himself decide who he wants to ignore.

Sir Garbagetruck, you're quite right i guess...

oh btw: sorry for still not releasing anything :)
time still is against me and i still got way too many personal things to deal with. life's fucking me really hard and i still need to learn how to fuck back ;)

that said, please do not recognize me as an attentionwhore. thank you :)
