Accept it and then move on from there, of course.
depends on what is really happening… for some it's already a ruin when something losy happens.
What does "life gets ruined" mean? As long as one is alive there's a way. It's not about losing material things is it? So this a philosophic topic.

A short tale -
When my wife was pregnant we went for an ultrasound @ 19 (?) weeks. It was then that we could find out the sex of our child (I didn't want to know) but she did - correct colors of linen and that sort of stuff...
That night at home I found her crying and asked what was up, she told me she was scared for our daughter in case she got breast cancer when she eventually grew up. My wife had breast cancer about 9 years ago, she had surgery (no chemo or radio) and has been clear ever since.
I said that we could worry about her getting run over by a bus if we wanted too, but that there was ultimately very little we could do (other than teach her look both ways!) so better to be the best parents we can be, enjoy it as much as we possibly can and love every minute.
In other words, try to find the positive in everything, be proactive (not reactive) & try not to dwell on the negatives.

I've got into some weird adventure, but not completely by my will (ignore influenciability, it's too complex for entering in details). Good results were expected and many consequences considered. The little (1 week long) journey ended in a complicated situation. And now, no one wants to solve all the consequent problem.

As the others already said, your life is never ruined unless you're breathing and alive. Sometimes it's complicated and a lot of stress, either way - mostly it's a phase, whatever happened will tone down by time.
Ringofyre is right, see the positive things, there must be something positive there (as nobody was harmed).
Whatever happened, it'll wear out - you'll have learned from it..

You always have to keep trying, no matter what. There is no other way.
Even if we are sentient programs running in the big box, we are all accurate human simulations and have the burden of biological needs and things to take care of, in order to feel well and function, like in the bad old days before the start of the matrix.
We make mistakes. It's part of the learning and growing process. Point is to learn and never repeat mistakes done.
I've many times hoped I could be only a sentinel running in the true native world of code beneath this nonsentical biological and physical simulation, that many times feels like a terrible waste of processor time and memory without any real meaning, but we really have to appreciate the guy running and creating this all for us. Life is a gift. It's a game, life of a sentinel without anything to simulate might be dull after a while. (However not for me.)
