Pouet features

category: general [glöplog]
An "ignore user" feature to hide posts/BBS comments; I'm fed up of SoLo2 spoiling every prod and me reading such comments unwittingly.

friol: Just to settle you a bit down... Pouet uses the same technologies most "Web 2.0" so - called websites use like php and SQL. It just uses them they way people did back in 2000, so what's the problem? About the video adding stuff, isn't the fix me beautiful thread working perfectly?
added on the 2010-01-02 15:18:50 by Defiance Defiance
No, it isn't working "perfectly", IMHO.

Those are the downsides I see (let's limit this to the "video-link adding" feature):

1) gloperators have to do heavy manual work; if users could add content directly, admins could concentrate on other aspects, instead.

2) users have to wait for operators to see one new video-link added.

3) if you add a prod that already has a video, you can't add the video-link contextually, but you have to ask the operators.

4) if an existing video-link becomes broken, you can't change it directly.

Sorry to tell you this, but the 1,2,3,4 do not sound like good reasons. And yep there are a lot of people ready to start trolling if they find the chance, yes including me, I'm not the exception, so gloperatorized access to edit the prods section is quite welcome here.

like what? wanking?

2) users have to wait for operators to see one new video-link added.

matter of a few hours, at max. a whole day.

3) if you add a prod that already has a video, you can't add the video-link contextually, but you have to ask the operators.

quite rare occassion, in most cases, the video gets kaptured after the demo got added to pouet.

4) if an existing video-link becomes broken, you can't change it directly.

don't blame pouet's web1.5ness for your incompetence to host a video.
Ok, let's stick with this, I've lost my hope :D

friol: it's terrible how your brilliant ideas are never taken seriously

Oh my god, Ads on pouet.net... it's clearly a sacrilege :D

Well, at least we learned something from this: Reactionary behaviour does also exist in the all mighty demoscene. :)

how are logo on pouet page selected ?

I always see the sames logos everytime I visited pouet, which is very boring. Ok most of them are good ones but seeing other logos (even less beter) would be refreshing.

I visited http://pouet.net/gfx/logos/ and discover that they are TONS of logos (and sometimes very good ones) that i never see...

Tigrou: How often a logo is showed depends on how many people voted for it in some way in some way. Ah, I love being very specific.

i really dont know, i guess its impossible to implement (easily), but a cap for the oneliner would be nice -> no more chars enter-able once the limit is reached.
( i guess would need some strange bloated_feature or alike )

but also the "search" is still not what one would like to have for the BBS -> i came here after i searched for "pouet 2.0" ( while i think a thread named exactly like that exists ) and had to scroll through 14 other threads first until i found this one.
( if named thread doesnt exist -> i NEVER find what i am searching for here on pouet, eventho i know the correct names of the threads normally -> maybe its just a matter of "thread-name" > "thread-posts_text" )

i know its just a hobby, but as we all use pouet a lot maybe you ( gargaj ) should get some unpaid/scening hirelings with the knowledge to pull it off fast ( scene should have a lot of good ppl in this field ), give em unbreakable guidelines/rules in code-design and see where it goes like that !
Having some indicator for already glöped or not yet glöped productions would be nice. Or some kind of checkbox feature to search for productions one has not glöpped yet in the prodlist.php ([ ] Unglöped prods only).

I know this has come up a thousand times at least, but can we plz haz more than one mobile phone platform? Like Android/iOS/Windows mobile/JME and whatnot. It sucks atm if you want to check out all Android demos/musicdisks etc.

I second (and third/fourth/...) that!

a hidden part tab on prods like CSDB has? (maybe using the 'preview' pop up box)

Probably mentioned already :)

Up/down vote for comments.
Thumbs for prod search.
Better BBS searching (not very helpful I know).

Oh, right. :) "Thumbs" is a dual-meaning-thing on Pouet.
