Remixing Depeche Mode must always turn into a complete fail.
Covering depeche mode is an other story.

Always gives me goosebumps when I hear his cover version of "Never let me down again". It makes me wanna take drugs :|
There's one or two acceptable DM remixes.

The Dirty South Remix of 'Can't Get Enough' is probably 100 times better than the original.

There're "Remixes" since years... Even in Demos. Much Demos have cubes or similar effects... :) *just kidding*

Sure remixing old game- or demotunes is another subject...

Some remixes aren't that bad and they give good credits to the original composers and help to remember in this old tunes. So much tunes are forgotten and the remixing-scenesites like amigaremix.com or remix64.com help to remember in good old days and it's sometimes a nice "sport" too, to remix a classic tune.

In that way you can learn a lot about chords, pitchbending, melodies etc...

Most time, amigatunes were composed with complete mixed chordsound- and stringchord-samples. On this way it's a good possibility to learn more about chords and sounds... I know a lot of producers which can really do great music but they have no clue about chords and harmonies... :) Remixing songs can help with that problem to learn, how to realize own melodys. Let's call it "Remixing the melodies in your brain" then :) It can be better implemented...

Even learning rebuilding sounds and mastering sounds isn't bad...

This topic reads like "What do you think of questions?" - totally un-answerable.
