Bad Day

category: general [glöplog]
optimus, did you see how my name is spelled? There's only one "i" in it ;)

Have you ever considered that talking about say coding before you've actually learnt to do it and practiced it for a while is really hard, its difficult to understand stuff, and easy to misunderstand etc? Well, same goes with living, get out there and do it for a while, learn how it all works, then go back to discussing it. Like foolman said in the other channel, start living ;)

As to finding a base, from my way of thinking there is no base and no truth that you can understand, just an infinite flow of life that you're in. You can never swim against the current and win, you have to go with the flow, and change it to get to where you're going.

blala: if you think that's brain hacking, you're brain hacking all day everyday, and you can't stop it until you die. You change your brain chemistry every time you eat, drink or think, you change your neural pathways every time you do something, everytime you learn something, and every time you think... To me, thats just living, not hacking.

blala: If I understand you correctly you want to have the optimal output from life.
Tell me if I get you wrong..
But.. just the case sense of life would be this, wouldn't it be the best to work hard about 20 years saving all your money and then you have your megacool drugtrip.. I mean an alltime high.. you have sex with the most beautiful women, etc..? I mean everything for money and this plan would work.. wouldn't it?

But I don't think I want a life as this..

otimus: Yeah, sometimes these discussions are nonsense but it is just so if everyone stays on his point of view.. I try to open my mind as good as I can to take part in a discussion.. the best ones are these when someone is getting something new.. and for me it's the best if that someone was me.. :-) so I TRY to keep an open mind.. that's hard because I think I am mostly right.. but often people have just failure to comunicate..

But: this sense of life question is the most basic question, because, if you have answered it for yourself, you live after it.. I mean, you cannot life just something.. you have decisions to take every day and you want to make this decisions in a certain direction. I mean that if I talk about sense of life.. The big direction in your life.
If this isn't answered you don't have a direction.. you walk through life and look behind every corner to look if there was something worthy..
It's sad that so much people seem to have no direction in life.. and I see that then these people stuff things into their lifes to fill the emptyness..

>And yeah, how is my name pronounced? :) Actually i don't know, i'm waiting for somebody to tell me ;)
Psonis is the coolest pronouncing I find..

first, mind hacking, not 'brain hacking'

psonice: of course you're doing these things all time, but there's a difference between just doing this, and doing this intentionally, in a planned way. for example, most people just get drunken in weekends, like a routine; but getting drunken cleverly can give you some experience most ppl lack...

phred: if i wanted to have optimal output, i wouldn't drink alcohol at all for example - but i do :)
no, i'm just saying that experiences with these substances/practices/etc can sometimes result in really interesting things, and thus improve your overall life.

stupid example: imagine two people, the first dies without ever having sex; the second had it once, at the age of 20 (while dying at 75, for example)... hmm?

blala: ok.. but then it is not the sense of life but more like a candy.. I understand..?

i don't understand...?
but these things will definitely change your sense of life
added on the 2004-01-30 17:38:54 by blala blala
almost everything you do will change your sense of life, these are just more extreme examples. Most people don't need such extreme measures to get to where they want to be, and a lot of those things won't actually change your life in the long term unless you keep doing it all the time. Drugs of any kind will do a lot more harm than good long term, other things like meditation take a lot of your time. I guess thats why most people take all those things in moderation and just see it as a normal part of life, and nothing special.

psonice: if you want to have an average, "normal" life, then good luck for that :)
(but, then, what are you doing here? normal people usually don't check demoscene portals twice a day... :))

anyway, for example understanding how the lights influence your mood is not the kind of thing i consider "extreme", but still can improve your life and influence your general point view too...

little things like this seems quite important, but most people don't care at all
added on the 2004-01-30 18:16:14 by blala blala
blala: but anyway.. you are talking about the candies, don't you.. they don't make the life worthful but they are just the sugar on the top..
I mean the little things on your way.. but where does your way go to?

psonice: ok.. you are absolutely right.. But then.. what? I mean it sounds like you can do everything a little but nothing really big time. That can't be the real thing.. can it?

Optimus: if you feel you have to think about the sense of life, chances are you didn't find your's yet. Nobody can tell you what the sense of your life is.

I can just tell for myself that my aims in life are to have a fullfilled life. I want to live in a way I know is right, I want to be open for thoughts and developments in our world, I want to learn from my environment and currently, demoscene is also an important part of my life as it was for the last few years.

I guess feeling depressed is just as normal a part of life as feeling great from time to time.
There's just too much happening in the world as to cope with everything. One has to limit oneself to certain fields to keep the overview. Of course girls may not be more important for certain individuals than computers, it's all about a simple cost benefit calculation; the only thing is, girls got that certain plus in your calculation as heterosexual guys mostly feel attracted to them.

One thing I learned over the years may be that thinking about things over and over again can really be a great thing. But sometimes, being guided by heart can be that more fulfilling than thinking about the situation and all the consequences...

Then I could pronounce it pzo-nike. Can't work with achents in writting anyways,. but this sounds funny. Because It's like a mix of psonio and nike, in greece psonio is shopping but means someone who blabbers a lot about himself, like "Look how cool I am!!! =)", and nike is like the name Nick.

Since I am getting a little stubborn as always.. (my capricorn self, next time I will explain you what that is if you wonder)

Why some truths have to be truths (axioms)?

>Well, same goes with living, get out there and do it >for a while, learn how it all works, then go back to >discussing it. Like foolman said in the other channel, >start living ;)

I never denied real life. I am living from times to times. As much as I feel so. Sometimes I get bored at parties. At rare times, I have felt well at social meetings (after some bottle of beer ;). More? I'll be probably doing it from times to times. Why do we discuss it (because I like?) since I'll once learn. Will someone say "No! Live more. If you live only rarely then you might not catch it..". Some "friends" in real life are like,. I told to them what they wanted to hear once: "Hey! I decided to close my computer yesterday and go to a party. It was great!!! I have a life now =)" and someone said in a predictable way "Didn't I told you? You just have to get a life!" :PPP

Strange things. I could have just said that while I didn't enjoyed the party or didn't went at all. But he would just wait to listen to the predictable answer like "I got life. I understood..". This 'I get a life' is very funny, ironical, as I wasn't living before :P. Nonsense of a younger generation. I never liked no generation. Either the elder or the younger. As they could understand me.. :(

Getting a life is funny for me. It's like saying live. But I am already alive and doing some things, no matter the what. "Get a life" people also have their up and downs. Perhaps writting things in here about my misery is living. A way of living. Till I die, nobody can tell me that I am not or have not..

Blah :O

>You can never swim against the current and win, >you have to go with the flow, and change it to get >to where you're going.

Why can't someone go against the flow and win? Is that a rule??? And then, who defines which the right flow is???

And to paraphrase into something funny: Theory of evolution itself, is something life(evolution) came up with too. How can we know it is true? In a far reality it might not be. It could be this! There is no truth..

Also:

>You can never swim against the current and win

You are making me thinking of never leaving this challenge (My stuborn capricorn self)! But if I win, then how can you know/define whether I surfed against the current or let it flow? Perhaps there is no flow really..

I have to say thing in a thread like this.
First I have been sighting way to bring along money to buy bag of fine english so here I am for You to better understand me! Which has been reason that people not gotten me so good on language skilles like mine.
I feel like Optimus some a bit of a time but not much reletency bacause I learn many of how about a life is beeing when it feels preety. I go out in pub-bars I learn how to know people and especilly girls! What is good that it is good for life. And boose is good to make brain twisted in a manor of wicked follow up situations which end me in bed with good persons. Yeah!
I feel like continuing with this thread even if it makes me unhappy sometimes. Please go on..

I finally took a gander at this bloated thread. Outside my window is a tonne of fresh fallen fluffy snow.

imagine what could've been done with all this energy, poured instead in writing.. lets say a demo. this would solve most of the problems in the whole human race - when optimus would feel like opening up, he could start writing code and eventually all that work would make up a one whole demo. just if...

Hrmm.. I think Optimus should write a book or something.. or, whatever.. have a Optimus hour at a party when he is at the stage telling his story.. this would be cool I think..?

melw: i would think that coding is too energy-consuming and daunting for him, since he doesn't get past assembly. ;> Or perhaps something like Coder's Block. I'm just getting past one as well.

phred: it wouldn't work. Optimus is so drunk at parties, that he talks without watching out for hours, and without being able to put together anything that belongs together and/or makes any sense. That is, he would talk 10 hours in a row without having said anything.

optimus: i just got myself a city guide. Besides seeing a few familiar people at the photos (yes, 1,3 Million people city can still feel like a village!) it also desribes each and every pub and disco and club in the city, with people who visit and such. For example, i would find Goth parties interesting. And Schlachthof, where one meets people "not very well suited for the life"... Must give it a try after i get past my exams... And pubs frequented by students. Or i should simply let the Noble Girls i happen to know take me to P1. ;>>>>> And screw all who don't get in. ;>>>>> Gh, gh, gh, i'm so evil!
