It probably won't be a demo, but go right ahead.

Ok since someone is fucking up the first rule of demos:

THE FIRST RULE OF DEMOS IS DO WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT.

They can be interactive, they have been interactive, and they'll be interactive any fucking time someone wants to make them fucking interactive.

"Waaah Plastic's PS3 Linger in Shadows isn't a demo because it's interactive, Waah Farbraush 'Polar' it's not a demo because it's not a demo, waaah do it yourself demo isn't a demo because it's not a demo, waaah my rule is stupid and I'm a fucking lamer!"

Yes. Yes you are. Go make a demo. And don't misquote Rule #1 again.
dont talk about fightclub!
Truck: Show me a demo that is -primarily- interactive, and doesn't just have an interactive part or mode.

Yeah, DIY-demo kicks major ass :)

Okkie: that one rules :) It is also an exception. Most demos are non interactive, hence the word 'demo' in the first place. While there are demos with interactive elements (but not many), I'm still gonna say that demos are primarily non interactive (which is part of the appeal, isn't it?)

This whole "DEMOS CAN BE ANYTHING! FUCK EVERYONE WHO TELLS YOU OTHERWISE!!"-routine is getting tiresome. Yes, demos sure can look and feel as different as night and day, pretty much all of them revolve around the same core. Using exceptions distorts what most demos are about: effects, music, appealimg visuals, skill, bragging and friendly competition.

In my opinion of course.

"Do It Yourself" demo is a game that was entered in a demo competition. There was a game competition at the same party and it should have gone in that competition, so it's not an exception. </rant>
I don't get why it's tiresome. Let people just do what they want to do and who cares what it is. If you want to make some crazy interactive art-demo, do so. You might get disqualified at Breakpoint, but if you want to do it, do it. I don't see the problem in people just making stuff for shits and giggles.

And Linger in the shadows is only interactive because otherwise Sony had no idea how to market the thing.

burgrlovr: it's not a game, it's an interactive demo.

Gloom : demos can also be like Truck's ;)

DO WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT, EVEN MAKE DEMOS LIKE TRUCK'S !
