The Golden Age is now officially over. Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein, Lem.

I think I'll have a glass of scotch.

RIP Mikey and Arthur ...
i'd like to quote ACC's last public speech:
Quote:
Communication technologies are necessary, but not sufficient, for us humans to get along with each other. This is why we still have many disputes and conflicts in the world. Technology tools help us to gather and disseminate information, but we also need qualities like tolerance and compassion to achieve greater understanding between peoples and nations.

"Welcome to space, Mike, there's still lots of room out here" - ACC to Mike Oldfield, 1994.

Should you rest in peace.

I watched his speech about the Lunar Google X Prize just yesterday. And I thought : "Let's hope that he'll live long enough to see us back on the Moon once again !"

I miss you Arthur.

damn.. i mourn more over pkd or lem, but this guy was great too. i read a half a dozen short stories by him and they were all top! his contribution to the space industry and telecommunication wasn't bad either. ;) rest in peace.

A pity. He was great.
I'll take one of his books for reading during the travel that I must do today.

No I'm sure you can find some on 4chan as well.

Anyway, he was 90, it's not sad, get over it. He was a mediocre writer, and as a "visionary" he was right about 5% of the time. If it hadn't been for Stanley Kubrick you'd probably never have heard of him.

This far, yes. Can you mention any other visionaries that can outdo his performance in fortelling the future?
