Yutani: With a decent DOM/JS implementation that shit should be slower than making one div / scanline imo. Also it bugs like hell if you rotate it around a non axis aligned plane.

true, but I liked the idea and they've at least made it perform decently in most 'modern' browsers (note ironic quotage)
