Is it based on MikMod somehow?

From the project page:
"Portable Music module player, the successor to mikmod."

I wouldn't call it portable, though. It occasionally uses inline ASM and only MSVC/win32 is able to compile it. To "port" it you would need to correct hundreds of mistakes and win32-only things in the code.

What about dumb? Isn't that a good IT replayer? And I think I rather stick to my own module player (MilkyPlay) and it is certainly more portable.

The portability of MilkyPlay is irrelevant if the source is not available.

MikIT is NOT Mikmod. MikIT plays IT modules much, much better then Mikmod.

Does MilkyPlay even support IT?

True indeed, but it will be available soon with the next release of MilkyTracker.

Yes it does, but it's probably not as good as MikIT as it mainly serves as XM backend in MilkyTracker.
