It's just an admin who gets it. It's a stupid discussion. Timbaland can't get in legal trouble for producing a song that sounds "almost" like Tempest's song. Besides, I'm sure at least 94% of the people here "illegally" download music. Isn't that stealing as well? Isn't that stealing an artists original work, a work that they worked on hard and are trying to "sell" so they can make some kind of living?

You should copyright anything that you make accessible to the world. Can't blame Timbaland, he just capitalized on someone else's mistake. It's not stealing as it's not copyrighted.

Who the heck calls that music anyway? At least Tim's beat is tight. He made it better.. it's called sampling people...

Doom: FOR FUCKS GODDAMN SAKE, ARGH...... dude..... *shakes fist*

seriously. for the umpteenth fucking time, as seen on somethingawful, youtube, and now on pouet...

The use of a copyright notice is no longer required under U.S. law, although it is often beneficial.

Always remember to patent your beats, yeah.

And speaking of beats, why are the defenders constantly speaking of beats (or beatz)? To me that would be just one part of a song/track. Ok, saying beatz might sound cool to some, I find it annoying. Oh, well.. The whole hip hop producing seems to have been mystified into some alchemy that only the likes of Timbo can master through massive talent, genius and something called sampling.

Ok, kids, go out and find some beats.

While this is slightly OT, it seems another artists has been abused. In this case it appears to be just uncleared & uncredited sample, however.

CAVEAT! I don't know if this is just small(ish) artist trying to get attention, or if this is a real deal. If it is yet another uncleared sample, then this could possibly increase the probability of the whole Timbaland story being picked up.

...picked up by some larger news outlets that is.

Both incidents are covered together in some blogs, such as Beauty N The Beat

We'll see.

Absolutely. However, deep inside me lurks a large cancerous lump of pessimism. It's probably just due to encroaching old age, but I am unable to ignore it.

On the other hand, I *am* impressed with what you guys have managed to accomplish thus far. (And for what little it's worth, I've done my teeny-weeny part by emailing friends and family with pertinent links.) Here's hoping you can take this all the way and prove my brooding pessimism 100% wrong. Go go go!
who's up for a drive-by?

Hm. This has probably been covered before (I read something along these lines on "Beauty N The Beat" but I just skipped through it as it didn't related to Tempest -- or so I thought :)

http://www.myspace.com/kelelerocmusic (Listen to "My Love...something"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILwci2uGXR0 (Listen to the gated strings)

Jesus, that's pretty shameless. Not only did he nick the OBVIOUS gated strings (even the cords are the same) but also basicly the rest of the buildup of the song (the drums and the vocal performance even matches, despite Timberlake being A Man(tm))

This is so friggin' amusing.
