2.d) I still use graph paper and then report all the coordinates of the cubes into an array of floats, like in the good old days \o/ (which I used to do at school during classes, not at home)

abb|aab|bab

I pre-render everything on a renderfarm at work and then compress it down to 63.5 MB and then attach a 0.5 MB replayer to it, because that way the demo looks much better.

We are allowed to do that nowadays you know -- so much have changed since the days of the Amiga.

despite the instant pouetisation, heres my serious answer: right now, i use softimage xsi 6 essentials, photoshop cs2, zbrush2, mudbox1 as well as other tools like flash mx / acdsee. i bought every single one of them over the past few years as a freelance artist (i started with photoshop3 back then, still have the original disks! ;) i even have maintenance on xsi and mudbox...
and to answer the first question: there is no such thing as sparetime if you're running your own company, so all my demoscenework is done during worktime of course ;)

cheers!

Say that you're pretty new to the scene and wants to do 3d for demos - where to start? Which programs? 3ds max? Or some of those mentioned by Gizmo? Guess I'm feeding trolls here, but still hoping for some good answers. Thx!
