15360 bytes uncompressed :D
i guess by the rules it's 1k ... i like it totally but maybe they should rename these compos "packercompo" or something lol
The actual uncompressed size of the intro is 1560 bytes. With exe headers, it should fit 2k. The reason why the -uncompressed executable is 15.6 kb is that it's linked with standard Microsoft linker, with fairly standard settings, to minimize the chances it will be flagged by antivirus heuristics. I'm actually surprised it's only 15.6 kb with zero effort to make it small.
Use of Crinkler is acknowledged in the NFO (but actually goes without saying; everyone uses it). - isokadded on the 2025-10-13 19:45:28

- Great music, bytes probably wasted on the FFT. That together with the single scene makes it look of like all those audio visualizers on Youtube. Maybe the music can be a bit more optimized in the future e.g., by using less different units in Sointu and removing some of the ones that don't do much, to leave more room for visuals.

- 4k Linux TECHNOMANCER by epoqe [web]
- Good: The intro starts nice, with the city looking moody, for the 15 seconds or so...
Bad: ...but then the lead instruments start and they sound bad. And the city lights up like a Christmas tree and starts looking pretty bad too. And the ground flashing white looks odd, and then it starts flashing even more to make it look even more odd.
Confusing: I'm not sure if the technomancer is a reference to the 2016 computer game, 1998 Gurps campaign, a way to avoid copyright strikes from William Gibson, or just a random sounding cool-sounding cyberpunk word tackled on to it. Are we supposed to be watching a thunderstorm of magical origins? That one camera feels like POV from someone falling or perhaps a building is collapsing, but there's no other explanation? Maybe I shouldn't read too much into it, but this going with the more realistic style / cinematic style, it hinted it has a story to tell and I at least didn't get it. - rulezadded on the 2025-08-04 09:17:08
