- demo Atari ST Atari STe Coreflakes by New Core [web]
- Some technical info, the mod replayer for the main part is in 12.5 kHz four channels... but no software volume control. Instead I'm using the microwire to set the volume of the right/left channel. Which means the two channels on left/right channel share the same volume, and I change the volume on basically every tracker row. I mainly did it for fun as a creative challenge when composing the music.
Oh, and the software sound mixer is fast also, it consumes less than 11% cpu-time on average, meaning I have more Motorola 68k cycles left per vbl than an Amiga after doing the software sound mixing. :)
The mod replayer also fits in the upper overscan, so in the fullscreen dual zoomer at the beginning, not much adaptation was made to fit the sound player into the code (code when opening the horisontal borders needs to be cycle accurate, so fitting the soundplayer would have taken some coding time. It's not hard work, but time consuming).
Other than that, the demo itself was a last effort to finally release at least something that looked like a real demo, so I put together whatever was laying around on disks in a weekend. Much of the design is by me... sorry about that. We did have proper graphics people in the crew, and I did included some of their work, but the demo would have looked prettier if I had let them do more of the design work, but it would also have taken more time... and then we might have had another project not going anywhere. - isokadded on the 2025-11-27 23:02:55

- More thumbs needed. =)
Fastest sprite routine on the ST, and one of the best designed demos at the time. Rullar. - rulezadded on the 2007-11-30 13:08:32
- musicdisk Atari ST PICTURE and SOUND Show by Glasgow Computer Centre
- Yeah, maybe you could make a nice 80:s music video with the guys, perhaps featuring a tune by Dire Straits? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ehl_VQuKRTc

- Try Saint as emulator.
I prefer Dragonnels Demo over Black and White though there are some nice stuff in Black and White too. (But more impressive versions of the effects are present in Dragonnels Demo)

- intro Atari ST Megascroller by JMP
- Didn't he make a very early demo containing sampled music and a 2bitplane scroller too? Anyway very nice effect, I had to think for a while, even when looking at the code, to figure out how he made the scroll. (And Eliminator is a is a nice game too from a coding point of view, if I remember correctly)
(A note to non-atari people, the ST is barely able to copy a full screen of data with the cpu in full framerate, it takes at least 85% cpu. The scrolling with overhead to update all 16 screenbuffers needed to do a smooth horizontal scroll plus the sprites would be impossible if no clever tricks were used) - rulezadded on the 2007-06-08 20:13:06

- demo Atari ST Eat My Bollocks by Equinox [web]
- At least Brainless Institute's demo is a trackmo, and we might include Aggression's Overdose to the list of multipart demos made before Bollocks.
Anyway, Bollocks is a great demo, one of the best ST demos with many nice parts, although none that great so that you would have to crack the demo to beat them. ;)
But arrogance is always appreciated in a demo so two thumbs up. - rulezadded on the 2007-05-05 21:12:57
