- And here it is - a little prod for API8, a party organized by the adorable folks teaching at Paris 8 University.
I made an initial design mistake so if you're not running on a 60Hz screen, the result can get unpredictable. That said, it kind of fits the theme as I wanted something that feels different on each machine - although sometimes the simulations look a bit sluggish or out of sync, and it kind of sucks...
The idea came from an IRC discussion over 10 years ago about how physical engines can't really go backwards - they simulate forward in time, but reversing the flow is beyond the limits of science.
So this demo actually runs real-time physical simulations in the background, bufferize the matrices, and replays them forward/backwards/slower/faster.
Everything's coded in Lua, using my favorite 3D engine.
Oh, and the demo is not ranked as I didn't want to compete with the students who did an amazing jproductions (that was agreed with the teaching team beforehand). - isokadded on the 2025-05-18 07:18:12
