- 64k MacOSX Intel Die Zeit war reif by Drehwerk [web]
- Thank you very much for your comments! With your background, I’m sure you’re aware how much interpretation depends on the specific toolchain and platform - things aren’t always as straightforward as they seem at first glance.
You’re absolutely right. Compared to high-end PC demos, the shaders here are, well… let’s say modest.
But context matters: this demo was presented on a stock macOS laptop, powered by a budget desktop GPU sipping just 30W of energy — competing in the same block as PC demos running on 600W beasts. 😊
It’s an Apple SceneKit demo at 64k. The Mach-O binary format, as you surely know, is designed to host multiple architectures and is famously the most storage-heavy among all platforms. The shaders are, indeed, not winning any beauty contests — but hey, it’s a Mac demo competing on PC turf. Brave, isn’t it?
There’s no dedicated demo tooling for macOS. This “bunch of crap,” as you kindly hinted, runs on a custom-built synthesizer and a homemade toolchain that works surprisingly well on an onboard GPU most people forget exists. - isokadded on the 2025-07-18 14:16:27

- I really love that effect with the realtime clock. The time display inside the demo looked exactly the same like the time which was projected to the wall in the Abenteuerhallen Kalk. Well done! Seeing the exact same image in the demo because the clock is synchronized was a nice one.
Also I truly appreciate the way how AI was used here. AI did not make the whole demo. AI was not directly competing with humans. For me this way ist okay. Using AI as a tool to partly create content instead of using it as a competitor which creates the whole thing is - from my perspective - the right way to do it. It was still a handcrafted demo.
I really like what I have seen here. Ich finde Demos mit KI-Inhalt auf diese Weise kamamamachen. - rulezadded on the 2023-07-30 18:32:36

- Good demo. I think most people didn't understand that you have to bring your own Mac computer to show the demos. This means that Mac demos are mostly rendered by the on-board GPU. Evoke has the powerful GPU for PC demos, not for Mac. This means that the competition is quite uneven.
