- The good: Typography, music, colors.
The "not so good": Camera movements and synch, general lack of action and/or content. - isokadded on the 2012-09-04 08:12:04
- game Windows Starship Sorades by Gramambo [web]
- Longer rant ahead, sorry. :P
I first thought, it would be some sort of remix or sequel to their own old Sorades Game, but no, it's a Raptor clone.
But really, this is a good example of the missteps of hobbyist game makers and/or possible creator hybris:
- Made with Game Maker, which apparently has much trouble rendering sprites at decent speeds.
- Imitation of a much older, much better game.
- Unbalanced, sometimes ugly graphics. Backgrounds and Sprites don't mix stylistically
- Bad voice over (recording, voice / intonation, grammar too...)
- Bad typography
- Sluggish controls (related to point 1)
- Much too easy
- Level design is non-existent
- Complete lack of design sense and TASTE (colors etc.)
Some good points:
- Music is much better than Sven's old stuff :P
- Some of the 3D is quite decent
..and this is like his 3rd or 4th bigger game now (with at least one of them also commercially available), and yet there's still so much left to improve and learn. :) - isokadded on the 2012-09-04 08:04:23
- 64k Windows Wheels Within Wheels by Horology
- I dig the classic 64k approach, with fx parts. Too many today are only procedural content factory fly-bys.

- demo Windows DE:TOX by Satori [web] & Aural Planet [web]

Fine, I was wrong 10 years ago. It rocks. Having much faster hardware at my disposal now, certainly helps.
(This is _not_ a good demo to watch on a ~700 Mhz Duron :D)- isokadded on the 2012-09-02 17:43:21
- demo Windows B10 by Satori [web]
- For what it's worth: I like it much better today than on 2001-12-22. ;)
The strong, but busy minimalism (in a way, very Japanese) and the mild synesthesia inducing coupling with the music do have an odd appeal, indeed. :) - isokadded on the 2012-09-02 17:36:38
- demo Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX PPC Dreamcast GamePark GP2X Playstation Portable MacOSX Intel SGI/IRIX Raspberry Pi Once upon a Time in the East by Fit [web]
- If it wouldn't be for the tepid music and lack of interesting synch/direction, it could be a thumb up.

- demo Windows Hard to say by LNX [web]
- I'm afraid the dubstep jokes poorly mask a below average demo.
