- 64k Windows engage by Logicoma [web]
- Ahem - mixed up my comments for Elysian from TRSAC with this. So I'll just refer to my comments and that, and continue the confusion by commenting on Elysian in this:
Amazing visuals. I've always been a sucker for these super tight syncs with the visuals delivering an extra layer to the music and vice versa. We DEFINITELY have to catch up at some other party. I have to see Wavesabre and the way it's put together.
(so that's my comments for Elysian - check Elysian for my comments on Engage) :D - rulezadded on the 2017-04-25 11:21:12

- Damn - didn't comment yet! Not here, at least.
The instrument work is really amazing. I'm extremely curious to one day get to see how it's all put together. No doubt that wavesabre really marks a new era in 64k music - perhaps together with 64klang2, which of course hasn't seen it's full potential yet.
On the visuals of this beast, one would have to comment on the great work on the sync. In modern 64k and with rocket and other tools, being on beat is more or less expected these days. With this prod, you've managed to get it JUST right - in the sense that it's not totally overdone with stuff flashing all the time. The visuals really fits the fantastic soundtrack.
Last praise from me this time, will definitely have to be the credits/font rendering. It looks really, really great. Love the glitches you made and the color choice is spot on.
A HUGE congratulations on this prod - it's easily on my all time favorites list! - rulezadded on the 2017-04-25 11:15:02
- 64k Windows Guberniya by Macau Exports
- Really, really moving and breathtaking. Lovely work on the choir and string instruments, and that reverb got to do some serious overtime :)
The intro as a whole is really beautifully composed. I didn't get the overall story, but each scene was painstakenly beautiful as stand alone, and though it's slow paced, it never got to the point where I got bored.
I agree that the herd and the shephard was definitely the highpoint of this production.
The camerawork is really great, too.
So to sum it all up: Fantastic instruments, fantastic composition, fantastic visuals fantastic thumb up :) - rulezadded on the 2017-04-20 10:53:08

- Massive amount of work. Looks a bit rushed here and there, but definitely a massive production.

- Really loved what you did to sync this to the music! Fantastic and refreshingly new aproach at the 4k category. I'm not familiar with all the tech going on underneath, but the visuals realle stands out as something I've never seen before. You manage to create this really tight connection with the audio and even though it sometimes becomes obvious what constraints where being met with the soundtrack, I've yet to see a better and tighter integration. Instruments were all really interesting and I'd say it's hard to put a finger on where you could have spent an extra byte or two. The production really comes across as whole and extremely well polished and most importantly: Well thought through. Massive props for bringing this shiny gem to us, and what a truly amazing compo to be in. I'd be surprised if this doesn't win, but on the other hand - there's really a lot of fantastic entries. So this will be the comment I'll regret for a loooong time, since I write it before the prize ceremony, but if this wins or not, doesn't really change my feedback and input ;)

- 4k procedural graphics Windows panacea by Mercury [web]
- So - who did the code again? :-p
Great image and it really looks "natural" in the way a totally procedural object will ever look natural.
Not knowing the technical side and all the math to create these 4k executable graphics, I've always had a hard time to rank these and compare them to 4k intros. Obviously, there's always more detail, but I always think: Would it be completely impossible to make it move a bit and add some music? I know that if it takes 20 seconds to render one image, there's no way to make it realtime, without cutting dramatically on quality, but still :) - rulezadded on the 2017-01-27 14:09:51
- 4k Windows mansikkajäätelön iltalento
- The effect is extremely nice looking. The lack of progress really doesn't matter all that much since the effect is visually interesting as is. Perhaps 2 mi utes would have been a better choice. On the music side of things, however, there's a lot of choices I simply can't understand. To me, it sounds as if you've used 4klang. There's at least five instruments. You have everything in place to have music that matches the visuals, really. 4klang is capable of modulation, thereby enabling you to create long, slowly evolving instruments. For a fluid simulation, I'd have definitely gone for a more fluent soundtrack. Instead, you've gone in the complete opposite direction and have a staccato track. The slightly larger footprint of 4klang makes no sense when not implementing the features this extra size introduces. So why not either create instruments, that matches the visuals or chose ie Clinkster with a smaller footprint? Also, 5 instruments is actually quite a lot for a 4k. Creating 2-3 interesting instruments and a more "fluidly" soundtrack would have worked so much better and even left you with quite a few extra bytes to perhaps introduce something extra visually. Well, that's of course just my view on things, and it definitely doesn't change the fact, that this is one of the most visually interesting 4k intros of 2016. Well done and obvious thumb up!

- 64k Windows fr-085: Let there be light by Farbrausch [web]
- Really, really gorgeous production! Visually, this is extremely nice, and I really like the shift to the winter-scene. The colored-glass is perhaps a bit outdated by now, but it sure as hell looked good :) On the music side, I must compliment the composition. It's really a catchy and moody track you've managed to pull off here. The synth, on the other hand, doesn't quite do it justice. I would so want for someone to somehow introduce a new synth to the tool. I know you've put great effort into the instrument design (it really pays off!) but the quiality of the synth is simply not on par and to be honest, somewhat undermines the massive achievement you did with especially the piano and the guitar. The string instruments sound way too metallic/synthetic and they could probably benefit from being slightly reduced in amplitude compared to the other instruments. Of course, that's all just minor details, but I really think the composition is so wonderful, that it deserves great instruments as well.
However, it doesn't change the fact, that this is a truly fantastic intro and to see this much content and detail in a 64k is usually only reserved for the largest parties. Amazing job, BeRo! - rulezadded on the 2016-12-30 13:05:04
