- demo Windows White noise can't jump by alien prophets [web]
- Alien Prophets have such a unique flair in their demos that "White noise can't jump" is enjoyable purely on that account.
This has no effects to speak of and a very abrupt ending that cuts short maybe the best effect they have in store here. Was it not for their style, I would be pointing my thumb downwards. - isokadded on the 2006-04-13 00:39:44
- demo Windows aave by eL
- Good demos can be made with only one effect but being random doesn't guarantee style or lasting interest and it's going to have to be a hell of a lot more creative than this. It could've at least been a bit shorter because I think it's safe to say you've seen it all a bit earlier.
This reminds me of that old game where you act as a missile defense, the visuals are about as interesting but at least you could play that one. - sucksadded on the 2006-04-12 23:52:35
- demo Windows Mindbender by ukonx [web]
- Not outright poor but this really is shadowed by My World (since the style is somewhat similar).
The music is nice and so's the style but this lacks any substance. There are no effects to speak of and being short would be a good thing if not for the fact that the demo just feels like a tease. You've been waiting for a minute to things get started and to see something interesting because it has looked promising but then it abruptly ends (unless something's wrong with my setup here) into a looping scene that you first hope is just lasting really long.
You're out of luck.

- demo Windows pandoras box by Outracks [web]
- The idea of keeping it synced to a single beat for pretty much the whole demo is good and I like the soundtrack, but the plasmaball scenes are just too chaotic, no need to shove it up the camera like that and change positions way before the human mind can register it in the end. The positioning leaves a lot to be desired and seems arbitrary.
It's not bad at all, it's keeping it simple with a couple of good looking effects but not letting it get boring. Just feels a little unfinished and muddled. Guess that's because it's unfinished. A shame.
Worth watching. - isokadded on the 2006-04-12 22:39:05
- demo Windows The road not taken by Outracks [web] & kvasigen [web]
- Fun in a way and the shortness works for it, not all demos need to be at least two minutes long. I like the valve scene but most of it is messy and weak, unfortunately. Music's nice.
I'll definitely need to check out poison after this. - sucksadded on the 2006-04-12 19:22:05
- demo Windows our.demo by Outracks [web]
- Dislike the music, find the effects dull and the theme mostly childish.
The design here seems not to have clicked, the result feels amateurish (funny I should use that word since I don't think demos are ever "professional" unless you count something like 3dmark...). The best effect is represented in a very coder-like way as well.
Outracks has done better, several times. - sucksadded on the 2006-04-12 19:03:41
- demo Windows synthematik by Outracks [web]
- Starts of rather poorly - monotonous music goes on for too long, the group name letter-by-letter isn't all that interesting but it all gets better.
I really like the soundtrack and the visuals are interesting enough to make me like the whole demo. It's just a fast & fun experience like blockbuster which I keep in a much higher regard.
There's the interesting rendering technique, finely stylized frames around it all, fun little alien flower pot model which makes a whopping three appearances (an interesting twist the second time around) and the fairly nice credits scene. These I like.
Then there's the bland "realtime slam" - I've never really yet seen a physics effect that actually manages to be impressive - and various other well-made but less interesting ones.
So looking at it all I think the music and general style's what really saves it from mediocrity in the end although it's certainly not near the top. There's just too much nice & impressive stuff here not to give it a thumb. - rulezadded on the 2006-04-12 18:47:22
- demo Windows byzantine by Unique [web]
- Accidental or not, it does one of the things good demos are supposed to - conjures something never before seen on the screen. Oily, infinite structures, static accompanied by ambience. The noise behind showing thru materia.
I like the soft progress and how it keeps evolving, the sound following well with the visuals. The images softly floating keep it from going too insane. I feel a couple of parts are a little too busy but those are just short passing moments and do still manage to be interesting enough. Indeed reminiscent of MFX a bit. - rulezadded on the 2006-04-11 01:25:38
- demo Windows Trocken by Bauknecht [web]
- Oh well, that'll teach me not to cut'n'paste from notepad. Funny, it didn't show up that way in the textfield before submit.

- demo Windows Trocken by Bauknecht [web]
- From Bauknecht comes a demo that varies between feelings of bathing in bright sunlight in perfect
happiness and in a peaceful place with a serene state of mind. Their design is very clean, nuskoolish.
Pure colours and simple geometric shapes are utilized to great effect. The soundtrack stomps on steadily
and at a fairly fast pace, machine-like but without any disruptiveness adding a sense of technological
sophistication.
And it all makes perfectly sense when you read the message they are delivering, it seems
to be a celebration of modern medicine's efforts against mental illnesses and a portrayal of the effects
of drugs on a disturbed mind. Trocken leaves a lasting impression by it's sheer beauty and freshness,
it's visual qualities perfectly represent the statement it chooses to issue. That is really as much as
anyone can ask from art: delight to behold and thoughtful. - rulezadded on the 2006-04-10 15:26:50
