- demo Atari ST The Final Swobbler by X-Troll [web]
- After seing the sodan distorter at the Hobbytronic we had to code an ST version which used the whole screen. In fact we had an internal compo running to see who actually managed to break the 199 lines border. To bad my own try could only display 197 lines in one vbl. This one uses 200 lines and some lame gfx by me

- musicdisk Atari ST Musicdemo by X-Troll [web]
- This demo was coded for a company to evaluate the quality of Nexus 6 first chiptracker. Somehow I happened to like the pinkish font, I am not sure it works with machines that have other memory configurations that Nexus 6's machine (1 MB) due to his lazy screen setting mechanism...

- demo Atari ST Sprite Magic by X-Troll [web]
- This was coded when sprite records were common, in fact it was sunnyboy's and nexus 6 answer to a small never released demo Marc Rosocha had shown us. When they figured there was no way to beat his number of sprites by a significant number, they decided to go for 2 vbls, what an idea :)

- demo Atari ST The Cyclone's New Year Demo by X-Troll [web]
- Nothing special here, mostly quotes of more famous crews and a little "me too" best screens are surely the main menu and the one with the crappy sample which was intended to beat the union demo "multiscoller" or whatever it was called :) This was the only X-Troll product besides AudioPac that was released somehow...

- broken download, still no proper init code, boring zak as always, terrible rasters in wrong positions, slow code, selfvoting,
...something else?

Some software sprites, and a full screen scroll (in software, too) and the game CRAWLs. It doesn't reach 1VBL, it needs 3 and up to 4VBLs for 1 frame.
LOL it crawls like "Wings of Death", sorry Solo2 who should buy that? Where is a 4 bpl background scroller in the tbc demo? i just see 1 moved (hopefully) and 3 masked animated objects (2 bpl from their looks) plus a tiny scroller.
You might be aware that some other shooter uses a 320x256 playfield with 150+ sprites on top, which surely might justify the usage of 2-3 vbls. Besides the Atari ST is fully capable to do 1 vbl games, "Enchanted Land" proves this. If you attend next outline I can show you what you can do in 1 vbl on a plain ST :)
Anyway games and demos are playing in a different league and I see no obvious reason why a demo screen like the tbc one should run in more than one vbl.
However I am pretty sure you are aware of this, and fighting about it would be ridiculous. So as far as I am concerned, I am done with it... - isokadded on the 2006-09-10 10:18:36
