This is an official query from the Commanders from the Oric galaxy: We need you to port your delicious serie of great intros to our machine !
We even have a C compiler, so you do not even need to learn assembly language !
And since you do not seem to use any kind of harware acceleration in your code, you should find the Oric machines perfect: they don't have a single kind of usable trick that allows to move stuff fast on screen :)
And the soundchip is the same, so you can even use the same sounds !
There is unfortunately one thing that you will not be able to port your great palette change tricks, because there is no such thing as a programmable palette on this machine.
So I repeat, you are welcome !

In the end, Atari produced a system that wasn't prepared to play shoot-em-ups. It's more of the "serious" home computing. To do some MIDI, ASCII text processing, home accounting, learn BASIC or 68000 assembler.
Atari ST is like a ZX Spectrum, but enhanced. Too much bigger and heavy.
Some software sprites, and a full screen scroll (in software, too) and the game CRAWLs. It doesn't reach 1VBL, it needs 3 and up to 4VBLs for 1 frame.

LOL it crawls like "Wings of Death", sorry Solo2 who should buy that? Where is a 4 bpl background scroller in the tbc demo? i just see 1 moved (hopefully) and 3 masked animated objects (2 bpl from their looks) plus a tiny scroller.
You might be aware that some other shooter uses a 320x256 playfield with 150+ sprites on top, which surely might justify the usage of 2-3 vbls. Besides the Atari ST is fully capable to do 1 vbl games, "Enchanted Land" proves this. If you attend next outline I can show you what you can do in 1 vbl on a plain ST :)
Anyway games and demos are playing in a different league and I see no obvious reason why a demo screen like the tbc one should run in more than one vbl.
However I am pretty sure you are aware of this, and fighting about it would be ridiculous. So as far as I am concerned, I am done with it...
