  first time after reboot it usually has some broken pixels
  after running some programs it usally fixes itself and looks just great

• @ps: did you try to delete the "local" D3DX9_43.dll? (i suppose you already installed the actual direct-x runtime from June 2010)

• to fix the crashes it should help to instal the appropriate VC++ Runtime (for the coders: just putting msvcp90.dll won't help, side-by-side rings a bell?)
