- "About Windows speech: I just don't get the point why using system-provided API for hardware rendering is fair while using Speech API is not? I wonder how many nowadays coders are able to code triangle rasterizer that would be as accurate as hardware one is."
Using a 3D API is the only way of using 3d hardware in a usermode application. There's absolutely no chance to do it any differently. As said, the issue is (if any) more related to the question of whether using Windows' standard fonts is ok or not :) - isokadded on the 2003-08-18 22:46:25

- nice tune for 4k and okayish visuals, but i find the "best win32 4k" shouts more than just a bit over the edge - this wouldn't even make it into my 4k top10 for the past 2 years.

- agree with stefan here for once (who'd have though it? :). using a 3d api and the graphics drivers is the most direct route to the 3d hardware on current machines. there's simply no way you could do it differently in a win32 application. so there's really no point arguing about THAT issue, because it is absolutely not related to the "using external content" problem :)
the closest thing is probably using windows standard fonts, which win 64ks have been doing for ages, and i admit the distinction gets very fishy here. bottom line is it's very hard to reasonably argue that point, but i still would feel better about the intro if it didn't use the ms speechsynth :) - isokadded on the 2003-08-12 00:28:25

- "using the windows speech synth sounds like an idea i'd like to try too :P"
we did that for fr06 final, but somehow didn't want to require it in an intro, it somehow feels like cheating :) - isokadded on the 2003-08-10 19:21:13

- some people didn't like its slow-pacedness, but i think it suits the intro well. rules.

- phoenix: win98 is the problem, the speech apparently uses the builtin windows speech synth, which is only there with win2k and later. :)

- demo Windows Legomania by Doomsday
- very entertaining. some will argue that it was not the best demo in the compo, but it sure was the most memorable, so it probably deserved to win :)
