- mad: yupp, it is a very comfortable way. If a musician knows certain limitations of an engine (or the chip itself) the coder even has less to do.
As for Z80 music, Shiru sampled some instruments and made a proper set of them, adding all to a small 'demo-song'. Based on this, people were making their own songs. From time to time compiling the XM into the target-machine, to test the sound. And so on. - isokadded on the 2012-08-14 14:26:21

Or a neat engine similar to those made for ZX48 by Shiru (with composing music in MilkyTracker with a fast conversion of notes from samples into synthetix.
