- I am sorry, but I will thumb this one down. I don't see really any redeeming features in it: The scenes are all pretty awful and have no connection with each other, the music sounds out of tune and the timing feels really wrong at parts (like around 1:25, did you play it live and didn't quantize?). Maybe with some work this could have been something, but as it is, it's just a waste of three minutes of your life.
Good luck for your next one, may it see a lot more polish, content and concepts. - sucksadded on the 2011-08-08 14:13:04
- demo Commodore 64 Snolgkos by Hoaxers
- I loved the around-the-rose scroller in the screenshot scene.

- Technically awesome and I had some really nice Sky Crawlers flashbacks from this, but something in the direction left me feeling a bit empty. Some small extensions to the story and setting would've probably done it.

- 4k procedural graphics Java Forest of Life by Lonely Coders
- Looks like my Deluxe Paint attempts from 1995. And this is not a compliment.

- Yes, please participate in the oldschool demo competition. The next time you declare "we love oldschool" and then proceed to use all the >2GHz on my computer to do poor imitations of effects that are outdated on 8-bit computers, the thumb down shall be merciless. It doesn't matter how beginner you are, or what tools/programming languages your demo is made with. Just don't do that. Come up with your own shit, like you did for the other parts of this demo.
That said, in many ways, this brought me to 1995-1996 and in a very good way. The pictures in the end and the music actually reminded me of friends long gone and dreams of demoscene stardom that we had back then. It's been a long time and a lot has changed since then but I'm happy to see enthusiasm in new people. I think that I'll pick up a phone and speak to some people I haven't spoken to in a decade. Maybe we could finally make a demo together. - rulezadded on the 2011-08-08 00:07:06
- demo Commodore 64 Storebror by Mahoney [web]
- What a lovely song and style. It's not very demoish but I don't miss "effect effects" one bit.

- demo Windows Fermion by Kewlers [web]
- The liquid effect is quite lovely but otherwise I think I'd love a bit more cheese and a bit less frowning in a Kewlers demo. To me We Cell still feels a lot fresher in this style.

- demo Windows Unhallowed by Pyrotech
- Much better than the Division demo but I wouldn't want to watch this one third time. I really wanted to feel the oomph but never quite managed to bring myself into honestly enjoying it. It somehow reeks of being unfinished, like the basic stuff and sequencing is there but the polish that really makes the demo is still missing. And what's with the scaling numbers?

- demo Windows Geomtry by Division
- The building tunnel mesh thing was wicked cool and technically it was really solid, but as a whole I didn't feel like the demo was really going anywhere. Having almost zero changes in pace and almost zero syncing didn't help either. I have nothing against a good flyby but this one just didn't show anything interesting.

- demo Flash Cubes Of Babylon by Evoflash [web]
- This is technically solid but unfortunately also uninteresting. Before rewatching it, I didn't remember any scenes in this but I recalled the rotating LED thing quite well. I liked your previous Flash demos a lot better, this one feels like it has nothing to say.
