- demo Windows Pimp by Traction [web] & Jumalauta [web]
- Yeah, the Ron Jeremy on a cube is definitely a JML thing :D This was made after rm said on IRC that the party is boring. I took what I had already in store, made it pink and that was it. I kind of feel sorry for the party orgas, I think there were like four Jumalauta demos in the compo...

- 64k Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX PPC Ante Dominum by Traction [web]
- I think it suffices to say that I consider this one of my best productions. The music is outstanding and the mood of the visuals is pretty nice. Conceptually I like this a lot, there's a few mathematical tricks presented as they are and that's it. There's purity here. I have been thinking of making a sequel that would focus on computer science instead of mathematics, but aside from a few tests, nothing has come out of that yet.

- 64k Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX PPC MacOSX Intel It's Full of Stars by Traction [web]
- It's made on a CRT, yeah. The biggest problem in making this was the music, because it used big samples that did not compress well. The original soundtrack was quite different. I think some of the parts in this were recycled later in productions made under other names, but I'm not sure. One part in the beginning was inspired by a helicopter flight over an oil refinery in this excellent documentary.
Thematically, I think more could have been gotten out of this, but I got fed up with touching it and the ifparty was conveniently coming along, so I submitted it. - isokadded on the 2013-05-28 09:29:00
- demo Windows No way back by Traction [web] & Ümlaüt Design [web]
- This aesthetic is something I want to revisit at some point, because this demo is one of the few that I consider a total failure. In my opinion, there's not enough substance in the effects to make up for the music, and some parts like the recycled flowers from Fiat Homo make me cringe a bit now. We could've done the music and the art a bit more justice. Well, at least it's got a tunnel effect...

- 4k Windows The Promised Land by Traction [web]
- It's a joke, mostly, I intentionally tried to walk the fine line between parody and bad art, and yet still somehow wanted to make a point since the Second Intifada was still a discussion topic when I made it. I don't blame asmorg for inflicting this on so many innocent people, it's pretty horrendous in every aesthetic sense.

- demo Windows Amethyst by Traction [web] & deMarche
- This was my first feeble try with shaders and I haven't really progressed much since :) The colors are awful with a modern TFT screen: I wrote this on a CRT that had much darker tones and it looked much better there. Some of the effects were left a bit substandard, unfortunately, as the party approached and I had very little time to tweak them. As it stands, I still kind of like the cheesiness here...

- demo Windows Insert Coins by Traction [web] & deMarche
- The pong part was pretty easy, it's just a simple "AI" that's playing it. And that's an insult to pretty much every AI routine out there. This was pretty easy and straightforward to make, and the tune was really inspiring. I still think that the Tetris part in the screenshot is one of the most succesful parts that I've ever made.
Did anyone ever notice, btw, that Onwards begins from where this left off? - isokadded on the 2013-05-25 22:43:07
- 64k Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX Intel SSRI by Traction [web]
- I guess the main thing here is the sync and some of the conceptual stuff. It felt strange rewatching this, because I remember some things about making it, and how hard some things in life seemed back then.
Trivia: after having problems with syncing Fiat Homo, I told Grip the musician to get me precise pattern/order things when stuff happens. And he did! That's why the sync is so precise, it must have taken him ages to write all that data for me. Also, I still like the colors in association with the background. - isokadded on the 2013-05-25 22:41:22
- demo Windows September And Snowfall by Traction [web]
- This is one of the lost and forgotten ones, I guess. I was on a streak in 2005/2006 and did a lot of stuff, this is one where all the odds and ends went. The music creates an excellent mood. I had talked with Pinza about a trip-hop soundtrack and had used one from Massive Attack as a template, with a really cold mood and all that. Then this arrived in my mailbox and suddenly there was a huge rush to change colors and refit the effect to fit the mood :D

- 64k Linux Windows Amiga PPC/RTG MacOSX PPC MacOSX Intel Fiat Homo by Traction [web]
- The spooky mode, iirc, only changes the background color. It was an accident at first but I thought it was funny so I left it in as an option. I've had alternate options in other demos like 2019 as well, I wonder if anyone's ever tried them...
Squeezing this into 64k was no trouble at all, because kkrunchy was/is excellent and there's not much code or data. The hardest part was, believe it or not, to get the damned blinking medusae to blink properly. Minifmod had no proper way to set the time, so I had to do it by hand I think that just making the three blink properly took something like an hour or so when I was tired and finishing this at the partyplace.
I think that this is something that has stood the time, even though my lack of skill and expertise really does show here. The flowers, while really nice, don't really belong in this, and the leap from flowers to skyscrapers is a bit contrived.
The name comes from an excellent book book that everyone should read. I already started making Fiat Lux, but that got put on hold. Maybe some day... - isokadded on the 2013-05-25 22:35:45
