- see, i'm beeing constructive here, i show where you can improve, i inspire you, and i try to ignore your insults because, clearly, you are not *really* like that, eh? someday you will stop pressing single MIDI notes, and i'm sure you'll find out why timelord is running so slow, even without my help ;)

- i expected a serious answer, my fault i guess :D
let me link you two examples of how beautiful vortex or meshes can look like in 256 bytes

wormy

spirello
your vartiation of "lets add an offset to the tunnel" also has been done in better ways - imho of course

lightfold

tar
so, all three variations of the tunnel fail to impress me, by far. i don't know why modulo or mul textures, reduction to monochrome, and adding noise looks better in someones eye, but in mine, it doesn't.

we could now go on, discussing on how pressing a single MIDI note is "music", what do you say? ;) - isokadded on the 2016-05-21 22:13:32

- oh, i understand the code. it's easy readable =)
recently, rygs 64 bytes routine was optimized to 52 bytes ... by myself =)

you're free to use my optimization, i'll allow it. with the gained twelve bytes you could - for example - implement ESC support ;)
or maybe you want to use the space, to speed up your intro? it's almost unwatchable. also recently, i showed that totally smooth tunnel-like effects are even possible in 800x600 resolution ...

... and this one here stutters in mode 0x13 ? Oliver please, you can do better than that ;)
the colors ... well let's not talk about the colors ... there are none anyway :D
See, this simply fails to impress me. Stylistic, technically, you know? Don't be to emotional over the fact that i don't thumb up. If you don't agree on technical details, you could still be like :

- amazing ... not the prod, but the comments :D cdak? best 256b? clearly not. i see a verrrrry slow and very ugly tunnel with some variations. i hear ... one single midi note. again. text plotting via printing and screen grabbing (instead of accessing BIOS ROM) is interesting though, and plotting the pixels with a gap looks nice, so no thumb down ;)

very nice! (runs here only under DosBox, under XP just the first frame and then it exits)
Finally, fixed ;) Also, replaced pixel routine via int10h with direct access, which runs order of magnitudes faster on real systems. Codegolfed the required extra space away, and even landed at 61 bytes =)

- @wbc\\bz7: Until now, i didn't have an idea/concept for which i would need more than 256 colors (custom palette), also 400% plotting effort must be justified (1byte <-> 4 byte) Like for the higher resolution, it's not too easy to make it really count ... an easy case would be to have 256 shades instead of 64. Realistic shading of anything 3D related can of course be enhanced with true colors, but combined with Hi Res, it's not too easily been done either (performance & 256b limit) Maybe i'm biased towards less colors, since they told me that even Hi Res with only FOUR colors can look pretty realistic ;) Autumn 64b

- @Kuemmel: well, it's still too close to the usual tunnel ;)
@sim: I already did intros in even higher res (Descent 256b with music, Autumagic 256b ) but figured it's quite difficult to make it count, like, 1024x768 and then what? With particles you barely notice a difference. With fractal stuff and sloppy offsets, same thing. Apparently, lots of non-ortho straight lines and circles, combined with fine animation steps (0.25 here) and a slightly lower resolution to have something you can call FPS rather than SFP, are one way to do it =) - isokadded on the 2016-05-18 10:18:52
