- But I was! And it ruled. And so did this. Looking forward to watching again later :)

- nytrik: it's the strong depth of field on the first scene. It's what's commonly called "tilt shift" photography. In real life you only see this kind of extreme depth of field in very small scenes viewed from a small distance, so when you apply too much DOF to a big scene your brain interprets it as being small, so it looks like a small model of a real place.

- Hmm.. dunno about this one. There are great bits, and not so great bits.
The massive terrain is really good, but the way it's rendered seems a little glitchy (it shouldn't give flickering bokeh with the DOF effect). The smoke cloud looked great in some shots, glitchy in others.
The horses didn't work for me, they had a slightly cardboard cut-out look, seem to be trotting instead of galloping, and I get the impression the cloud is slightly too low res to render the legs. The hand was great though, rendering glitches aside.
Once again, I'm totally looking forward to the write-up though :) The rendering.. well, somehow the glitches weren't where I expected them. So I'm suspecting there's something interesting going on under the hood, as usual.
Overall: despite the bits that didn't work so well, it's at the top of the pile still. There's no way this should be anything other than a thumb up. - rulezadded on the 2013-09-16 17:09:57
- demo Windows RedShift by TLM
- TLM: Cool! The maze scene looks really good with just AO too.
Actually, it's really nice to see the AO layer separated out like this anyway. This should be done more often, captures of the different layers that make up the result :D I'd guess most groups have the functionality to do it already, since it's damn useful for debugging.
This is something along the lines of what I was thinking of:

Basically just the AO value with tweaked brightness / contrast. It'd look good alone, but maybe it wouldn't match the background well. - isokadded on the 2013-09-16 16:51:05

- I liked this one best out of the function demos (and it's by far the best dead roman demo so far). It's perhaps not the most advanced, but it's the most polished somehow. It's got really good flow.

- That for a firstie? Wow! Lovely effects in this one - I loved the maze solving and the final cube part particularly. And the landscape at the start :) (Btw, that final cube part - looks like there is some AO-style lighting, did you try it with all cubes the same colour? Might have looked even cooler, or might have looked like arse :)

- This was really cool, and imo should have won really :) It was a nice entertaining watch, and I really like the analogue look. Plus, fractals. And a looping ending, always a win :)
Technically too it's really interesting. Read the info file :D - rulezadded on the 2013-09-13 12:11:58
