  it is pretty vanilla raycasting, shooting 240 rays (one per horizontal pixel).
  each ray is traversed from back to front with ~ 185 discrete steps and checks against the "map" function, so varying wallheight is possible.
  
  and the "thing" in the middle is the chainsaw, or at least is supposed to be :D
