- Was quite nice demo overall. I liked the tune. Looks like the engine needs a little more work though - the env mapping at the start was quite bad. The NDF effect looked like it had some possibilities, but suffered the same problems as the env map (in 3d apps this is usually cause the edge angle value is set too low, so all edges become sharp instead of smooth, maybe it's similar in d3d?)
Also, there were too many layers in some parts, so it's hard to notice some parts are there at all.
Deformations were really nice though! Keep going - rulezadded on the 2003-08-26 16:44:44
- Windows Furtherance by HellBender Group [web]
- A few pictures and a text file count as a slideshow now??? Where are my holiday photos?!
Only a couple of good pics in there too. - sucksadded on the 2003-08-26 16:10:23
- 4k Windows IV Krawall by Never [web]
- Was actually quite good. Music was quite nice for 4k, and what really deserves a thumb is the first swinging butt cheeks in 4k :)

- demo Windows Chirpat's Delight by Fearmoths [web]
- Well, I quite enjoyed it too. Reminded me a lot of friday at 8 by polka brothers, which is definately a good thing. Needs a fair amount of work to make it great tho.... better objects would help, perhaps a bit more variety too. Also the sync could have been way better.
Thumb down cause it's made with demopaja ;) - rulezadded on the 2003-08-26 15:31:40
- demo Windows Weltenkonstrukt by Smash Designs [web]
- Crashed halfway through with corrupt screen (winxp, p4 1.8, gf4mx, 512mb)
What I saw was not great tho. Sure, impressive modelling, but it's not hard to do with a bit of practice and real models / photos to work from! And yes, envmaps sucked big time! Materials in general looked like they were limited perhaps more by the engine... how about controlling the envmap on the shiny walls with an alpha layer to give a bit more realism?
Also, it ran very slow on some parts (mainly where there were trees + the flare effect together) - probably my shitty gfx card.
i won't thumb it down, cause I've only seen half, and the amount of work put in was certainly impressive, plus I enjoyed the tune a bit. - isokadded on the 2003-08-26 15:16:32
- demo Windows ninja in a box by The Planet Of Leather Moomins [web]
- Found it average. Some nice effects, some not so nice, music was pretty nice, design was somewhere near amiga style, but somehow lacked power.

- wild Animation/Video Egon and Dönci - First man on Mars!? by Aenima [web]
- I don't think it's so commercial as animatrix etc. It's not based on any commercial IP or advertising anything (and there have been demos with both before now).
Videos made by sceners have long been considered fair game for the wild compos, and as long as the entry is not an already released high quality anim, entered into the compo just to win some prizes, I think thats ok. i think it would be better to have separate anim and wild compos where possible tho, to separate the usual videos from the real wild demos (exotic hardware etc) - isokadded on the 2003-08-26 14:58:23
- wild Animation/Video Egon and Dönci - First man on Mars!? by Aenima [web]
- I've dropped the resolution a bit (to 320x240), put soundtrack as mp3, and compressed it a bit further. Still 41mb, but it's a bit better than 630mb :)
Uploaded to scene.org, so it's yours as soon as the scene.org admins pull their fingers out (filename is egon_and_donci_320x240.avi - divx5.04). If anybody wants a still smaller version let me know, but be warned: the quality starts to suffer at lower res/bitrates. - isokadded on the 2003-08-26 14:43:55
- wild Animation/Video Egon and Dönci - First man on Mars!? by Aenima [web]
- Wow! Probably the best quality realease the scene has seen!
The modelling, lighting, animation, the sound, all were extremely good! Story too! yes, it does come close to pixar :)
I'll recompress it to a smaller size for the bandwidth impaired if anyone has some space to host it. - rulezadded on the 2003-08-26 13:02:24
- 64k Windows Zoom 3 by AND [web]
- Got my hands on a laptop able to run it...
To anyone complaining of the blur: it seems to be framerate dependent, I watched it at 320x240 and it looks way better.
Some really great modelling / animation and also great lighting. But the textures looked sucky where i could see them. Some effects worked well, others sucked (the green wireframe + pixel zoom would have probably looked great if filtering / line antialiasing was enabled...) Effects were also used too often. But i guess that if they weren't people would just diss it for being a flyby :)
Tune was ok, not great, but good enough I think.
Overall, it was a great intro, perhaps slightly too flawed to be a classic. - rulezadded on the 2003-08-26 11:03:44
