- demo Windows Epoch by Epoch [web]
- Watched this for the first time in over a year I think, not as bad as I thought it would be! This was basically just a rudimentary OpenGL engine (with some cool features) and us (well, me anyway) playing around with shader parameters and GNU rocket. The whole script/direction/timeline was hammered down in an evening, with tools we had relatively little experience with and that shows. Still I think there's some pretty cool cinematography that ended up in the demo. The colors for the most part look pretty bad though, clipping and oversaturated.
The idea was to make a documentary-like short about this, I suppose, arctic environment. Not like a scripted film, but just a piece documenting different aspects of the environment, which explains the direction (yes, it was intentional). Think something like commissioned field recordings, akin to this. A lot more to explore within this concept too. - isokadded on the 2015-11-28 05:15:08
- demo Windows Entropy by Epoch [web]
- In preacher-style I could shed some backstory on this. If it's not clear what this demo is about it's... well, entropy (who'd have thunk!). Somewhat chronologically from the big bang to different size stellar objects to eventually the heat death of the universe. And then of course, what happens after maximum entropy is reached? I don't think there's a clear answer but apparently by our interpretation, all hell breaks loose.
The end was the whole idea behind the demo (for me anyway :)) from the very beginning, with inspiration coming from this. sm kinda wanted to drop it until the very end due to us being only halfway done at like 3AM the night before leaving to the party, but we fought through and I think it's much better this way. If the end feels it doesn't fit then good, it's working! - isokadded on the 2015-11-28 05:07:24
