  Would it still be in violation of the rules if it just sat there unused until the actual compo? I find it hard to believe it wouldn't be allowed—while going for a live setup knowing it would way overshoot the 8-minute limit was just fine (certainly no-one expected it to be done sooner, right?).
  
  I mean if it's actually like that, then it's a clear loophole in the rules, and should probably be addressed. Imagine if Trasidio was also assembled on-stage for like half an hour instead of the 7.5-minute video it was. Or if there were like five DYI projects all circumventing the time limitation like this. That just... doesn't feel right.

• I like some of the textures and the raindrop effects on the ground and camera lens. Music... wasn't very good, even for a 4k (I guess due to inexperience with Oidos?). I'm also not sure what's going on in the demo. Some objects cast (wrong) shadows and others don't. The sense of scale isn't properly conveyed (e.g. when the dragon things fit inside the sewers but then become as thick as buildings). Not really feeling the polish here, tbh. It's okay for a 16k but I think it needed some more work to justify the size category, perhaps with slightly different priorities in mind. It could have confidently taken a top-3 spot in the 8k compo where I think it belongs better, content-wise.

  I'm not sure where this jab came from or what Altair should be sorry for, considering Urbs Advena (that was what you referred to, right?) was kind of superior in most aspects—geometry, instruments, rendering, color choices and design in general—and did it in 12k.

• Deepr and I talked about the demo at length after the prizegiving, and we both agreed it was largely held back by multiple questionable design choices. The soundtrack is definitely a highlight and keeps everything together—great work, Basscadet!
  
  My take on it is that you should decide among yourselves which one of you has the most developed sense of style and direction and let them have the final and immutable say on these matters. :) Zoomin already proved that a demo didn't need mindblowing effects to be successful—it was the Adapt demo that had a clear, consistent idea and delivered on it without trying to do ten different things at once.

• Lovely fractal flame aesthetics! I was a big fan of Electric Sheep back in the 2000s (actually wore their t-shirts to some parties), so this hit right home with me, but you should definitely look into pacing next time. Nice soundtrack as well.
