- hehe ok.. my findings when looking into it:
-framerate is about the same on the 8600m and and the 4850
-basicly no gpu activity on the 4850
-visuals the same, maybe except some wrong viewports
-all shaders compiles fine.
-the viewport changes in the beginning are smooth on the 8600 and not on the 4850, which also hangs a bit (not related to the precalc, just info)
-replacing the shader to a fast dummy shader (visualing viewdir) means :
*much faster precalc
*same framerate
*still greyscale'd parts
..so the conclusion seemed pretty obvious :) - isokadded on the 2009-01-04 21:17:29

- As far as I can see it's not realtime, but just a (relative) few frames calculated in the precalc - that also explains the repetition and greyscale versions etc.. and the reason for the sucky framerate. Content more 4k like, but being a party release saves it.

- Runs here (XP32/4850), but VERY slow and with some long breaks in the begining (like gargaj said, he is just less patient/has a slower cpu ;) .. and with the gpu activity at a solid 0%... I would have guessed it to be cpu rendered (and still slow).

- Music precalcs (black screen), background pops up and that's it. So it's more like it stops (but can be exited). I don't think it's graphics driver related, music doesn't start either.

- Made a slight update which may fix guardians problem, now it doesn't comply with the no-animation compo rule.
gargaj: somewhat resolution dependent, but added a 1600x1200 version.
cryer: laika still insists it's a female ;) (and TBH the version in Blender looks more like it - especially in low precision). Metaball modelling takes some practice..
tigrou: just SM4 and recent drivers (though it should exit if it fails to compile). - isokadded on the 2008-12-29 23:59:45
