- demo Windows fr-031: faded memories by Farbrausch [web]
- Reminded me of the work from Maturefurk and some Haujobb prods, but with a signature Farbrausch touch. If I'd just seen it and I didn't know it was from FR, I might've thought it came from one of the two former groups listed. Vic's track is really nice, and Visualice's art isn't so "in your face" as it is in a lot of other demos. There's a lot of good effects and the color palette feels "familiar". Good synching, although some of the scenes near the end seem to be off with the music. Still, a very nice demo!

- 64k Windows fr-027: Out of the blue by Farbrausch [web]
- Nice demo, although the initial sequences seem to go on for an unnecessarily long time. I'd heard the music track previously on the Mahal 3 CD a couple years ago (circa 2000-2001)... and unless Wayfinder did the original commercial track, no credit was given to covering the original. Since I don't want to assume anything here, I kept my rating neutral. If the track's original, then I'll be back for a thumb's up.

- demo Amiga AGA Amiga OCS/ECS Roots 2.0 by Sanity
- Amazing and classic demo with some of the best pacing I've ever seen. Jester's kicking soundtrack keeps things moving (one of his best, certainly), while the demo lets you breathe for a second during the slower and lower-key maze sequence. Otherwise, beautiful Amiga effects one after the other with cool art throughout.

- demo Windows A Significant Deformation Near The Cranium by Kewlers [web]
- This demo succeeds on multiple levels, because it's an excellent demo on its own, and on another, it has likely encouraged many people to go out and learn about the unique works (and mind) of Dali. Kewlers shows once again that they're not just a one-trick pony, and have not piggybacked on the success or style of Variform. Instead, they've continued to produce some truly cool and standout demos. Great work.

- demo Windows Tesla by Sunflower [web]
- My favorite demo from Sunflower... really soothing thanks to the amazing Radix+Lluvia soundtrack, as well as the rock-solid and consistent design/code found throughout. Beautiful ending, too... the images definitely stay with you long after the demo is over. Top-notch work.

My thoughts exactly... or what about the GUS-only demos from the early 90's? I think Complex's "Dope" was GUS-only, but that didn't stop it from becoming an instant legend at the time. Or the first wave of hardware-accelerated demos? Or the first Amiga demos that were AGA only? When those came out, they ran on a very specific set of systems that not a lot of people had at the time. Did that automatically make them bad demos? Reading the comments, the argument just doesn't seem to make any sense to me...
Anyway, this demo runs fine on my P4-2.4 w/Ti4200 as well as my P3-1.0 w/Ti4400 at work, and I think it's one of those demos that gets better the more you watch it. You start noticing little details here and there that you missed in prior viewings, which I think is very cool.
I've already commented on this demo, so I can't give it another thumb's up, but here's another one in spirit. :) Keep up the great work, guys -- your work contributes to keeping the scene fresh and constantly moving forward. - isokadded on the 2003-08-20 09:07:53
- demo Windows Kosmiset Avaruus Sienet by Haujobb
- Doesn't work on my computer since I upgraded to XP (and killing ctfmon.exe doesn't help, unfortunately), but when I saw it on my old system, this thing made me cheer. So much style, so many cool ideas, and takes the mashor3 tune from MFX's Kromiset Sienet and twists it into something completely banging and intoxicating. Thankfully, the Mind Candy DVD has allowed me to continue to enjoy this demo. Crazy stuff!

- demo Windows Horizontal Cool by Carillon & Cyberiad [web]
- Typical CNCD style, which translates into, "It looks and sounds better than most of the demos out there." Cool effects, a killer title logo, great color execution, oldschool flavor, and the music is fresh. Thumbs up!

- demo Amiga AGA Dark Helmets by Spaceballs [web] & The Silents [web]
- Nice, nice soundtrack... one of my recent favorites. I hate not being able to run this stuff on my own system and having to watch it on a DivX, but I guess I have to if I don't have an 060. Anyway, nice work, and shows that the Amiga scene still has lots to offer. Looking forward to future prods.

- demo Amiga OCS/ECS xpose by The Silents [web]
- Similar texture and feel to Hardwired, but different in its own way. The loader sets a different tone for the demo from the beginning (Jesper Kyd's Funky Loader Tune is great!), and the effects throughout the demo aren't just the same old thing. Overall, I think the demo has a nice pace with and effect font that is smooth and stylish. The demo runs a while, and can get pretty long-winded, but overall, a quality production from TSL.
