- 1k Windows Hatching by optimus
- one way to see it is that it is a harmless 1k make with some skill (although it is way too easy these days to nick some raymarching code from the internet)
But it could be so much better without the absolutely horrible camera movement and colors. Plasma colors and plasma visuals are just 20 years too late even for 1ks! - isokadded on the 2014-08-04 23:33:11
- demo Windows Mrs Escher's Nightmare by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- The paper world is the world of ideas (a demo in your head). The background world is reality (a finished demo, as a demo usually looks like - ethereal, coloured). At the end the drawings escape into reality - and that may be the story of another demo :-).
This is one way to see it. Another is to ask mrs Escher, who has to live in a house full of crazy drawings and endless paradoxes! - isokadded on the 2014-07-27 11:08:25
- diskmag Windows Hugi #38 - Gravity Shot by Hugi [web]
- It's very well made on many levels. Some typos, but no other problem. It is a pleasure to read the making ofs and Optimus' drivel :-)

- demo Android Feed Me Lies by Fairlight [web]
- yeah, best of the show - good idea (somebody has been watching too many vimeo videos eh :-)) but I wish it was reserved for a grand pc demo.

- demo Linux Windows Secret Rooms
- I don't like it but it is a good presentation of some graphics routines and algorithms. I hope we see more from these guys...

- demo Windows Violent Nature by Andromeda Software Development [web] & Minimalartifact [web]
- No. Unfortunately it is more complex than that. You can have a shader running on glpoints and still not rendering on one card etc. glpoints or glquads have nothing to do with it.

- demo Windows Violent Nature by Andromeda Software Development [web] & Minimalartifact [web]
- Just a couple of things about the production:
Relative speaking, violent nature started life a very long time ago as a very different demo. Half way through I realized that there is potential in that demo that needs to be further explored (and presented in a bigger party) so I continued on a tangent from last year's Euskal demo called "Mito chondrio". With the particle engine in place and the track (remix) from Ps, the demo was completed in 2 days.
I changed my mind a few times from black to white background (you may see that in the postprocessing shader). The white background (and dark dots) gives it a microscopic feeling while the black a macroscopic. I had to let the demo lay for a couple of months before making a final decision - red against black.
The particles are working on a combination of curl noise attractors, a pseudo spring-mass-damper system and a point attractor. These things are linked to the FFT and some variables that I change by hand. The geometry and topology of the mesh is derived from the edge tracing of some images I recorded at home: these look organic enough to be interesting, yet quite chaotic to keep with the general feeling of the demo. Some edges are rotated as if they were a swing. This small detail is my favourite.
The rendering is done using gl_points and gl_line strips. It works quite well because there are many points (I think 1.2m) placed so tightly so that they move with continuity. On top of that there is the usual dose of SSAO to emulate the shadow dropping.
