- demo ZX Spectrum MCMXCVII by Thesuper
- Damn, Enlight 97 really was the Spectrum scene's own Woodstock, wasn't it? Thumb up for making me feel nostalgic for an event I wasn't even at :-D

- Eye: There were a few real Spectrums at the party, but I had more exciting things to do than go around borrowing them and then spend more time fixing multicolour timings. Like drinking beer. :-)

- 4k Windows D - Four by Ctrl-Alt-Test [web]
- This is not scene poetry. The reason scene poetry has a bad reputation is that 99% of it is filler: it's all about "how can I make this spinning cube look deep and meaningful?"
This is the exact opposite - everything in here, from the colours to the position and timing of the text, is done for a reason. That's something quite special when so much of the state of the art in 4Ks is about procedural generation, and finding the algorithms that happen to give the prettiest results. Kudos to Zavie for NOT giving in to the temptation to add unnecessary filler...
I have a sort of romantic notion that the ultimate 4K intro would be one which contains exactly 4096 ideas that the author had while making it. (Yeah, don't bother pointing out all the things that are mathematically wrong with that statement. I don't care...) This is pretty high up there. :-) - rulezadded on the 2011-04-26 20:25:49

- I got through 4mat's tweet, the youtube video and the first 18 posts in this thread before learning that this was a 4K and not actually a several-megabyte demo. That's worth a thumb up in my book.

- 32k Commodore PET No Pets Allowed by Orb [web]
- This has to be a new leading contender for "demo you'd most like to take back in time to when the machine was first released, and nonchalantly load up at whatever trade show it was launched at, just to fuck with people's heads".

- demo MSX lameridemo! by Tyypiz
- An extensionless file which doesn't resemble any recognisable Speccy emulator format, no sign of a Basic loader and no instructions what to do with it? Yup, that certainly lives up to the title! :-)

- There are a few enduring feelings which remind me why I love the demoscene so much, and one of them is watching a prod like this and thinking, "I see where this is going. How far are they going to take this? Surely they can't... oh shit, they just did. HELL YEAH."
