- Seems a little bit broken here (Chrome 26, OS X):
Code:ERROR: 0:92: 'rgb' : too many matching overloaded functions found that can be implicitly converted, this is ambiguous ERROR: 0:92: '=' : cannot convert from 'const float' to '4-component vector of float'
Also, it's trying to fetch texture1.png / texture2.png / texture4.png / texture5.png which aren't in the archive. - isokadded on the 2013-04-08 14:40:53
- demo ZX Spectrum UNIT 42 by Speccy.pl [web]
- My first reaction to seeing the greetings part: "ha, they're greeting Polish Speccy groups that have been dead for 15 years. That's kinda... cute." Then the credits... oh shit, these guys *are* the Polish Speccy groups that have been dead for 15 years. I'll let them off, then :-)
A fine comeback / Spectrum debut(?) from everyone involved!

- demo ZX Spectrum We are alive! by Gemba Boys
- The reason Speccy scene activity dropped off sharply after the "golden age" of 1997-2001 is that it became too hard to raise the bar, to create something that hadn't been seen before. We're all getting older, with more responsibilities and less incentive to spend months on end working on a new killer effect. Now, finally we're seeing demos like this and MCMXCVII by thesuper where people are rediscovering the fun that we had back then without the need to break records. A hearty FUCK YOU to anyone who would try to shut that activity down.
Major kudos to Alone Coder for taking the hard route with his demo and continuing to push the boundaries, but this demo is doing just as much, or more, to bring back the demoscene spirit. As a wise man once said: if you can't respect that, your whole perspective is whack. - rulezadded on the 2013-03-24 20:07:23

- Sdw: bulb@ is full of shit, and your first reply to him is no more than what he deserves.
Even if this was a straight code recycling job (which it isn't), the way it's presented here as a progression of effects makes it a very respectable (if not earth-shattering) sequel to the original. - rulezadded on the 2013-03-17 19:54:40

- As I said in my Outline live-set, I don't think there's ever been a demo that has made me feel so thoroughly happy as this one. Not just because it's a totally sweet demo - but for everything it signifies about the demoscene becoming established in a new part of the world, and finding a voice that fits so perfectly within the local culture. Yay!

- demo Linux MacOSX Intel Raspberry Pi Anthem for a New Robot Dawn by Gasman
- Final version up... now runs on a Raspberry Pi with a 192/64 RAM split or better. Framerate is a bit crappy for some reason (anyone saying 'Python' will be slapped with a wet fish), but close enough for jazz.

- demo ZX Spectrum Nightmares by Noice [web]
- "betraying the Spectrum"? Oh jeez. I hope this is just an enormous joke that's being lost in translation (I've tried to follow the conversation on zx.pk.ru, but Google Translate does a really bad job of the slang on there), because if it isn't, this is the most childish scene war ever.
I do think this is the better demo of the two, and I'm also surprised that it didn't win (it was well received at the party - I was happy to see people applauding the sine plasma effect, as I assumed it would be something only Speccy sceners would 'get') - but accusing people of fraudulent voting and ripping just because you don't like the result, is Not Fucking Cool. Especially when it's about someone's first demo.
Demoparty voting isn't perfect, but at least it involves the same set of people watching the demos at roughly the same time. Pouet commenting doesn't. - isokadded on the 2012-09-11 17:21:57
